River Lodge 'Wellnesshuus' - 2 persons

First of all, a specific note about Cottage 443, mainly as a warning/reference for future vacationers. This is a children’s/baby bungalow that sleeps 5 people. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that the final cleaning had been done only half-heartedly; the living room was still littered with food scraps and crumbs. We reported this, and it … wasn’t until several hours (!) later that the issue was resolved. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning; the overall condition of the cottage was very poor: dirty, dusty, full of cobwebs, mold in the bathroom and kitchen, dirty bedding, and food scraps between the table slats and in the couch—but actually, the “en suite” baby room was the worst. The baby crib was positioned under a double outlet, only one of which had a child safety cover—scandalous! Standing up, the little one could easily reach it. We then moved the crib aside only to find even more junk underneath. That was the last straw for us. We reported it again to the front desk, where we were offered the option to switch accommodations—a nice gesture. The ease with which this option was offered did suggest that this happened often… which is also evident from other reviews. All in all, it cost us another day—having to find a different cottage and move, all while traveling with two children. Far from “slow living” and “no hassle.” To make up for it, of course, there were no extra charges for the more luxurious option, and we also got a free ride on the electric boat, but we’re still mostly disappointed. A midweek vacation effectively turned into just two good days of vacation.
The restaurant is fine, and the electric boat is fun too. The pool is outdated but adequate. The park has a lot of potential—or is it a case of faded glory?

Advice: invest in cleaning and maintenance. I don’t think there are any follow-up inspections here, or that anyone even checks the place at all. That’s how you prevent these kinds of disappointments. The marketing doesn’t match reality.

What a wonderful park! Not too crowded, but equipped with all the amenities. Our 2-year-old had a great time at the playgrounds (both outdoor and indoor) and the pool. They’ve also thought of the parents, with delicious coffee (available to go) and great food at the restaurant. During the toddler weeks, they organized fun activities. Highly recommended for families with young children!

We had a wonderful week with great weather. We enjoyed the sauna and hot tub.
Beautiful surroundings that are perfect for biking and hiking. Good communication, and if there’s a problem, you get help quickly through the app.
This was our first time, and it certainly won’t be our last.

Overall, we liked the campground quite a bit. But what really matters is that the kids had fun.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the restroom facilities. We only had one container (!) that housed two toilets and one shower per gender. It was actually quite chilly inside at times during our Easter vacation, and the water temperature … was absolutely inconsistent. After you finished showering, there was so much humidity in the container that you had to leave the door wide open for quite a while just to be able to see anything. Some friends of ours had a mobile home, and it was really top-notch. It’s a shame they don’t pay a little more attention to providing some luxury for campers here.

Our daughter was 13 years old at the time. Unfortunately, the swimming pool and indoor playground are no longer suitable for children of that age. Both facilities are really only designed for very young children. Read more Show less

A beautiful vacation park in a stunning setting. We took a midweek getaway in late September with gorgeous weather; even though we’d booked just outside the peak season, there were still plenty of activities both on and off the grounds. Every morning we could pick up delicious bake-off rolls at the store, and there were plenty of other options if … you happened to have forgotten something. We had a wonderful time boating on the electric boat, took a nice walk along the Regge River, and then ended the day on the terrace with a snack and a drink. We also went swimming a few times in the indoor pool with our 8-month-old baby. The water temperature was fine, but the changing table is mounted on the wall less than 2 meters from the exterior door, which isn’t really ideal.
The Happy Oak Lodge (4p) was also spotlessly clean, fresh, and flawless. Right across from our lodge, three new lodges had just been installed to replace older accommodations (mobile homes). So the park is actively renovating its accommodations. We’ll definitely be coming back here again in a few years! Read more Show less
