Velthorst - 6 persons

Located right on the lake, it's very quiet. We were there in the fall, and the few parking spots right next to the houses were almost full. In the summer, you'll probably have to park at the front desk.
The house was nice, even though it could have been cleaner.

We stayed at the park for a week in August 2026.
Upon arrival, we were in for a big disappointment.
In January 2026, we had booked cottage 118—as our first choice!
Located on the dike with a view of the water, close to the dock for visitors.
A lovely spot worth paying extra for, so that’s exactly what we did.
But unfortunately, upon … arrival, it turned out the cottage had been rented to someone else? How is that possible? Well, it had suddenly become a pet-free property and was therefore unavailable to us with our two dogs.
That’s very unusual—when we booked in January, we booked it with our two dogs included! And no one ever informed us of this change—not Europarcs (where we’d booked), and not Resort Kagerplassen (now the new owner). We were assigned a different cottage—the one at the very back (cottage 230) of the park. It was on the completely opposite side of the grounds, with no view of the water and not even located by the water.
As compensation, more than three weeks later (and after contacting them several times), we received a refund of our booking fee plus 10% of the rental price. Oh, and as compensation, we got free air conditioning (worth €15 per day).
Another disappointment for us was the following:
The boat ramp was supposed to be on the property, but upon arrival—well, due to the construction of the new cottages, it was no longer accessible by car. So the advice was: use the ramp at the neighbors across the way. We did that, but the neighbors weren’t exactly thrilled about it. Our boat was in the water, but there was certainly no way to get it out from that spot.
And then there was our 6-person cottage—it’s actually very cramped for six people, both in the bedrooms and the living room. There was only enough space for four people to sit comfortably. If you wanted to open the dishwasher, you had to move a dining room chair out of the way every time; otherwise, you’d block the dishwasher and the door wouldn’t open.
The location around the Kagerplassen was great—it’s wonderful to go boating and biking in that region.

They won’t be seeing us again at the Resort de Kagerplassen. Read more Show less

I thought the location was great, and the lodge was really beautiful—though I think there isn’t enough time for cleaning; that was just a minor issue. Also, the AC is there, but it doesn’t work, even though it’s 28 degrees inside. I also have a comment about the curtains—there was a dirty spot on them. Maybe I’m being too picky, but you do pay a fair amount for it; still, the location made up for everything.
