Nature areas and being outdoors

Surrounding Burgh-Haamstede are several nature reserves where you can walk and cycle. Westerschouwen Forestry is the largest forest in Zeeland and partly borders the dunes. Here you walk through forest and open dune landscape, with viewpoints and paths leading to the beach. The Grevelingenmeer is also close by, a large saltwater lake where you can swim, sail, or find a peaceful spot along the shore. National Park Oosterschelde offers a different environment, with opportunities for bird watching, diving, or taking a boat tour. The nature here is varied and easily accessible, allowing you to choose a different route every day.

Cities, culture and local spots

In the surrounding area, there are several places in Zeeland that are easy to visit. Renesse is nearby and has shops, terraces, and a direct connection to the beach. Zierikzee is a bit further away and features a historic center with harbors, monuments, and narrow streets. Middelburg is larger and is known for its old buildings and canals. Here, you can also take a boat tour through the city. For something different, visit Terra Maris, a museum about nature and landscapes, or De Oesterij in Yerseke, where you can learn more about shellfish and crustaceans and even taste them. The distances are short, making it possible to combine several places in a single day.

Climbing, playing and discovering

For an active day, there are several places nearby. At Klimbos Westerschouwen, you can climb and zipline among the trees, with courses at different levels. Kanoa also offers activities such as archery, beach volleyball, and raft building. For a day of attractions, Mini Mundi is a little further away, combining a play park and a miniature world. This way, you can easily alternate between nature and action.

Active outings on and around the water

In the area around the campsite, you can do a lot on and around the water. At the Veerse Meer you can go paddleboarding, canoeing or pedal boating. Boat tours on the Oosterschelde are also popular, where you might spot seals or porpoises along the way. At the Brouwersdam you can also go surfing, sailing, or take a clinic. The water is close everywhere, making it easy to plan an active day.

    For us, the walk to the North Sea beach was too far.... Children and teenagers were zooming around the campground like crazy on their e-scooters and bikes, even without supervision... One positive aspect was the outdoor area of the swimming pool...

    A very nice and well-maintained campground

    We had a wonderful stay at Camping Ginsterveld. The entire campground is beautifully landscaped, clean, and well-maintained. We stayed in a 6-person mobile home. It was well-equipped overall and perfectly adequate for four people. With six people, however, it gets a bit cramped.

    Overall, the … cleanliness was very good. We only found a few pieces of candy wrappers and some dust under the beds—the cleaning staff could pay a bit more attention to these areas.

    The swimming pool deserves special mention. The outdoor area is beautifully designed and offers plenty of lounge chairs. In our opinion, a few additional lounge chairs would also be desirable in the indoor area. The opening hours could also be a bit longer.

    We also really liked the many playgrounds on the grounds. They are all clean and tidy, and the play equipment looks well-maintained and in good condition.

    A place to shop is about a 5-minute walk away, which is very convenient. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the beach. That’s certainly not a plus, but it shouldn’t be a criticism either, since you know this in advance given the campground’s location.

    In our opinion, the prices for rental bikes are a minor drawback. We found them relatively expensive, especially since there are significantly cheaper providers in the immediate vicinity.

    Overall, we had a wonderful stay and can definitely recommend the campground thanks to its well-maintained grounds, great swimming pool, and many recreational opportunities.

    Sehr schöner und gepflegter Campingplatz

    Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt auf dem Camping Ginsterveld. Der gesamte Park ist sehr schön angelegt, sauber und gepflegt. Wir waren in einem 6-Personen-Mobilhome untergebracht. Dieses ist insgesamt gut ausgestattet und für vier Personen absolut ausreichend. Mit sechs Personen wird es allerdings etwas beengt.

    Die Sauberkeit war insgesamt sehr gut. Lediglich unter den Betten fanden wir noch etwas Bonbonpapier und Staub – hier könnte bei der Reinigung noch etwas genauer hingeschaut werden.

    Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist das Schwimmbad. Der Außenbereich ist sehr schön gestaltet und bietet viele Liegen. Im Innenbereich wären unserer Meinung nach ebenfalls ein paar zusätzliche Liegen wünschenswert. Auch die Öffnungszeiten könnten gerne etwas länger sein.

    Sehr schön fanden wir außerdem die vielen Spielplätze auf dem Gelände. Diese sind alle sauber und ordentlich, und auch die Spielgeräte wirken gepflegt und gut in Schuss.

    Eine Einkaufsmöglichkeit ist in etwa 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar, was sehr praktisch ist. Zum Strand sind es ungefähr 30 Minuten zu Fuß. Das ist sicherlich kein Pluspunkt, sollte aber auch kein Kritikpunkt sein, da man dies bei der Lage des Campingplatzes vorher weiß.

    Ein kleiner Minuspunkt sind aus unserer Sicht die Preise für die Leihfahrräder. Diese fanden wir relativ teuer, zumal es in der näheren Umgebung deutlich günstigere Anbieter gibt.

    Insgesamt hatten wir einen schönen Aufenthalt und können den Campingplatz aufgrund der gepflegten Anlage, des tollen Schwimmbads und der vielen Freizeitmöglichkeiten durchaus weiterempfehlen.

    Beach is not super directly connected. There are plenty other campgrounds around with better access. But the central playground really delivers a super nice space for kids to hang around. Indoor pool also a huge plus. But I have not seen it with bad weather outside. Facilities indoor looked very tiny
