A day trip to the south

Take a trip south and visit cozy Flemish cities. A 40-minute drive away is Bruges. Stroll through the historic city center, head to one of the 50 chocolatiers and taste a Brugse Zot. During a glamping vacation on the coast of Zeeland, an active day near or in the water can not be missed! After fifteen minutes of cycling you are at Moio Beach in Cadzand. Rent a SUP to get into the water, go kayaking in the surf, or book a lesson in wave surfing. Don't want to get in the water, but want to do something adventurous on the beach? Then let yourself be pulled by the wind while blokarting or try to control a kite during an afternoon of power kiting. You can also participate in various beach sports such as beach golf, ditch shooting and beach lacrosse. There is something for everyone!

Bird watching in Het Zwin nature reserve

Less than half an hour's drive from the glamping is Het Zwin nature park. This green area is no less than 155 acres and attracts many birds and other animals in addition to people. As you walk through nature you will come across nesting storks, geese and ducks. Before your walk, head toward the center building, where they'll give you all the info you need about the area's nature and wildlife.

A day at the museum

Alternate a day of nature for a day of culture and visit one of the many museums in the area. For a museum full of bizarre inventions, go to the Bizarium in Sluis. A hair growth helmet, a flying bicycle, and a swimming umbrella… you will find it all in this special museum. And that's only a 15-minute drive away. Want to learn more about fishing, marine animals and birds? Then drive 15 minutes to the Fisheries Museum in Breskens. From utensils to fossils and a sea aquarium, through various objects and stories you will dive into the fishing and animal world here. Try tying a fisherman's knot yourself or watch a fisherman make a fishing net.

    The campground’s location is really great. It’s about a 5-minute bike ride to the beach—definitely a plus!

    Unfortunately, the restroom facilities are far too limited for the number of campsites. There are regular wait times for both the toilets and the showers. Sometimes, even after 10 p.m., campers were still waiting in line to shower. On top of that, very little water comes out of the showers, and a single token only gets you about 7 minutes of hot water. After that, you have to wait until the hot water comes back on—the same goes for washing dishes.

    Unfortunately, the pool was also very cold during the first two weeks of August, even though the website states that it’s heated by solar collectors. Especially given the consistently sunny and warm weather, we would have expected more here—the pool actually felt rather chilly. The sea felt significantly warmer than the pool.

    On the other hand, the entertainment team deserves a big round of applause! The kids were thrilled. The team was enthusiastic, friendly, and truly dedicated—simply great!

    Die Lage des Campingplatzes ist wirklich super. Mit dem Fahrrad ist man in etwa 5 Minuten am Strand – dafür auf jeden Fall ein Pluspunkt!

    Leider sind die Sanitäranlagen für die Anzahl der Stellplätze deutlich zu knapp bemessen. Sowohl bei den Toiletten als auch bei den Duschen gibt es regelmäßig Wartezeiten. Teilweise standen selbst nach 22 Uhr noch Camper zum Duschen an. Dazu kommt, dass nur wenig Wasser aus den Duschen kommt und man mit einer Karte gerade einmal 7 Minuten warmes Wasser bekommt. Danach muss man warten bis es wieder warmes wasser gibt, dass gleiche beim Spülen.

    Auch der Pool war in den ersten beiden Augustwochen leider sehr kalt, obwohl er laut Internetseite mit Solarkollektoren beheizt wird. Gerade bei durchgängig sonnigen und warmen Wetter hätten wir hier mehr erwartet, der Pool fühlte sich eher schon gekühlt an. Das Meer war gefühlt deutlich wärmer als der Pool.

    Ein großes Lob gibt es dagegen für das Animationsteam! Die Kinder waren begeistert. Das Team war motiviert, freundlich und wirklich engagiert – einfach spitze!

    We booked a beach house at Strandweelde.
    The location is absolutely gorgeous—that’s the biggest plus!
    The house’s amenities are average, as is the kitchen; it’s missing a lot of little conveniences—basic essentials, basically. The bathroom is tiny; you wouldn’t be able to help a toddler use the toilet here.
    It wasn’t really clean, and the house is in serious need of repair. It only looks luxurious at first glance.
    We definitely expected much more for this hefty price.
    The two terraces are fantastic, but even here, the cushions are heavily soiled—with bird droppings, among other things.

    Wir haben ein Strandaus am Strandweelde gebucht.
    Die Lage ist wunderbar traumhaft und der größte Pluspunkt!
    Die Ausstattung des Hauses ist durchschnittlich ebenfalls die Küche, hier fehlen viele kleine Helferlein sprich Grundausstattung. Das Bad ist Mini, hier könnte man einem Kleinkind auf dem WC nicht helfen.
    Sauber war es nicht wirklich, das Haus stark gebraucht. Luxus findet man nur auf den ersten Blick.
    Hier haben wir für diesen saftigen Preis deutlich mehr erwartet.
    Die beiden Terrassen sind genial, aber auch hier, die Kissen sind stark verschmutzt unter anderem mit Vogelkot.

    The beds could be a little firmer, in my opinion.
    The loose chair in the living room really doesn't work.
    Nice campground, cute little campground store, delicious fresh rolls.
    Lots of activities for the kids.
    Very friendly staff.
