A day trip to the south

Take a trip south and visit cozy Flemish cities. A 40-minute drive away is Bruges. Stroll through the historic city center, head to one of the 50 chocolatiers and taste a Brugse Zot. During a glamping vacation on the coast of Zeeland, an active day near or in the water can not be missed! After fifteen minutes of cycling you are at Moio Beach in Cadzand. Rent a SUP to get into the water, go kayaking in the surf, or book a lesson in wave surfing. Don't want to get in the water, but want to do something adventurous on the beach? Then let yourself be pulled by the wind while blokarting or try to control a kite during an afternoon of power kiting. You can also participate in various beach sports such as beach golf, ditch shooting and beach lacrosse. There is something for everyone!

Bird watching in Het Zwin nature reserve

Less than half an hour's drive from the glamping is Het Zwin nature park. This green area is no less than 155 acres and attracts many birds and other animals in addition to people. As you walk through nature you will come across nesting storks, geese and ducks. Before your walk, head toward the center building, where they'll give you all the info you need about the area's nature and wildlife.

A day at the museum

Alternate a day of nature for a day of culture and visit one of the many museums in the area. For a museum full of bizarre inventions, go to the Bizarium in Sluis. A hair growth helmet, a flying bicycle, and a swimming umbrella… you will find it all in this special museum. And that's only a 15-minute drive away. Want to learn more about fishing, marine animals and birds? Then drive 15 minutes to the Fisheries Museum in Breskens. From utensils to fossils and a sea aquarium, through various objects and stories you will dive into the fishing and animal world here. Try tying a fisherman's knot yourself or watch a fisherman make a fishing net.

    A nice, clean campground. Also suitable for large vehicles. With so many campers, the washhouse—which has only two toilets—is actually too small. But it was very clean. Long walks for campers on the grounds. Less than 10 minutes to the beach. Great for bike rides. Maybe provide poop bags for the dog fee.

    Schöner sauberer Campingplatz. Auch für große Fahrzeuge geeignet. Für so viele Camper ist das Waschhaus mit seinen 2 Toiletten eigentlich zu klein. Es war aber sehr sauber. Weite Wege für Camper auf dem Platz. Zum Strand keine 10min. Für Radtouren super geeignet. Vielleicht für den Hundebeitrag Kotbeutel zur Verfügung stellen.

    We spent a week at the Zonneweelde campsite during the Whitsun vacations and had a pitch with private sanitary facilities. And what can I say: it was wonderful! The pitches are all very well-kept and mostly straight. The shell limestone forms a great base which (fortunately) also provides really good support for our ground anchors, as we had very strong gusts of wind. The private sanitary facilities are very clean and offer everything you need. The only thing to criticize is the sink, as it is unfortunately not made for washing up, as the edge is so rounded that everything flows over it when the water jet is increased or when pouring out. But that's complaining on a high level, because that's what the small dishwashers are for. The site is beautifully laid out. The tiny houses also look very new and modern. In between, there are always smaller houses that seem to be used by long-term tenants. However, the sanitary blocks for the general public don't quite meet our standards. However, as we had booked private sanitary facilities anyway, I will leave this out of the rating here. The small supermarket has everything you need and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Arrival and departure were also very straightforward. The path to the beach (approx. 800 meters) can also be easily managed on foot and there is a great restaurant right there. There are wonderful cycle paths all around. Unfortunately, we only had 3 nice days, but we still have wonderful memories of our vacation here and would love to come back. An additional mention that shows what Camping Zonneweelde and its guests are all about: on the evening of our arrival, a family's dog escaped. Everyone immediately looked around and searched for this dog. As we had noticed, the reception service also dealt with this incident immediately.

    Wir haben eine Woche in den Pfingstferien auf dem Campingplatz Zonneweelde verbracht und hatten eine Parzelle mit Privatsanitär. Und was soll ich sagen: es war wunderschön! Die Parzellen sind alle sehr gepflegt, weitestgehend gerade. Der Muschelkalk bildet einen tollen Untergrund der (zum Glück) auch richtig guten Halt für unsere Bodenanker bietet, da wir sehr starke Sturmböen hatten. Das Privatsanitär ist sehr sauber und bietet alles was man braucht. Lediglich das Waschbecken ist zu bemängeln, da es leider nicht zum abwaschen gemacht ist, da hier der Rand so abgerundet ist, dass bei vermehrtem Wasserstrahl oder beim ausschütten alles darüber hinaus fließt. Aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau, denn dafür gibt es hier ja extra die kleinen Spülmaschinen. Der Platz ist sehr schön angelegt. Die Tiny Häuser sehen ebenfalls sehr neu und modern aus. Dazwischen finden sich immer wieder mal kleinere Häuser die scheinbar von Langzeitmietern genutzt werden. Die Sanitärhäuser der Allgemeinheit entsprechen jedoch nicht so ganz unseren Standards. Da wir aber sowieso Privatsanitär gebucht hatten, lasse ich das hier aus der Bewertung raus. Der kleine Supermarkt bietet alles was man braucht, das Personal ist immer freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die An- und Abreise war ebenfalls super unkompliziert. Der Weg zum Strand (ca. 800 Meter) lässt sich gut auch zu Fuß bewältigen und dort gibt es direkt ein tolles Restaurant. Rundherum sind wunderbare Radwege. Wir hatten zwar leider nur 3 schöne Tage, dennoch behalten wir den Urlaub hier in wunderschöner Erinnerung und kommen gerne wieder. Eine zusätzliche Erwähnung, die zeigt was das Camping Zonneweelde und die dortigen Gäste ausmacht: am Abend unserer Anreise ist ein Hund einer Familie entwischt. Es wurde sich umgehend von allen Seiten umgesehen und dieser Hund gesucht. So wie wir es wahrgenommen hatten, hat sich auch der Service der Rezeption diesem Zwischenfall direkt angenommen.
