The Veerse Meer is a freshwater lake enclosed between the Zeeland dikes, and one of the province's most popular water sports locations. At the marinas around the lake you can rent sailboats, windsurf boards and SUP boards. The water is calm enough for beginners, but large enough to make a substantial trip. On the lake you sail without tides or current, which makes it different from sailing on the Oosterschelde itself.

From Camping De Zandput you can walk straight into the Oranjezon nature reserve, without a car or bike. In this varied dune area, you pass chalk-rich grasslands, small ponds and dune forests close together. In spring, the dunes are in bloom with orchids and other special plants.
