Breskens is a short distance from the park and is a charming seaside resort with a lively fishing harbour, atmospheric terraces and various shops. Stroll along the quay, taste fresh fish or enjoy the view over the Western Scheldt while impressive sea ships sail past. From the harbour, the ferry departs to Vlissingen, which puts you on the other side of the Western Scheldt in about twenty minutes. There you can walk straight onto the boulevard and discover a pleasant city with shops, restaurants and a historic city centre. The crossing is an experience in itself, with beautiful views over one of Europe’s busiest shipping routes. In this way, during one outing you effortlessly combine the charm of Breskens with the lively atmosphere of Vlissingen.

About a twenty-minute drive away lies Zwin Nature Park, a remarkable nature reserve on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. This expansive tidal landscape consists of mudflats, salt marshes, dunes and creeks and is a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Thanks to the well-maintained walking and cycling paths, you can explore the area at your own pace while enjoying sweeping views and the peace of nature. Be sure to bring binoculars, because from the various viewing points you can regularly spot spoonbills, storks and other special bird species. In the visitor center, you can learn more about the origins of the area and the unique interplay between sea, wind and nature. A wonderful destination for an active day outdoors.
