Discover hidden beaches & coves
Around Cabo de Gata you’ll still find untouched natural beaches, far away from mass tourism. Think of gems like Cala del Plomo, Cala de Enmedio and Playa de los Muertos. Perfect for a day of sun, swimming or snorkeling. These coves are often only accessible by a walk or kayak trip, which ensures peace and a unique sense of discovery.

Go explore and visit photogenic fishing villages
The region is home to picturesque villages such as Rodalquilar, Las Negras, and Agua Amarga, where time seems to stand still. Stroll past white houses, enjoy a plate of freshly caught fish on a terrace, or soak up the atmosphere in small art galleries and local shops. These places offer a perfect mix of authenticity, simplicity, and Mediterranean charm.
Enjoy nature & adventure in the park
The Cabo de Gata-Níjar Nature Park is a protected volcanic area full of contrasts: rugged rock formations, palm trees, salt flats, and desert landscapes. From the campsite, you can follow countless hiking and cycling routes, such as the route to the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse or the Sirenas rocks. Adventure enthusiasts can kayak along the rocky coast, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, or go on excursions to old mines and abandoned villages. Here you will discover the true Andalusia.
Experience Culture & History in Almería
Less than an hour’s drive away is the city of Almería, where you can soak up culture in the impressive Alcazaba (a Moorish fortress) or the charming old town with its tapas bars. Combine your visit with a trip to the salt flats of Cabo de Gata, where you can spot flamingos. Also special: the abandoned film sets in the Tabernas desert, once the backdrop for western movies. A surprisingly varied day out!

I had originally planned two nights, but then extended my stay straight away. Green oasis. Trees and reed mats for shade. It may be annoying in winter, but it makes a lot of sense most of the year. You can put your chairs and tables in front of the pitch, which many people did in the evening sun. Everything is well maintained and the service is always friendly. Great hiking opportunities all around. I'll definitely be back!

This campsite is in a really quiet location, surrounded by hills, and there is also easy access to the beach. The sanitary facilities are modern with toilet paper and soap provided. The village of Las Negras is an easy walk, as long as you don't mind a hill, and there you'll find restaurants, bars and a small supermarket. The area is in a natural park and there is good, scenic walking.
