Looking for an unforgettable adventure with friends in Arctic Norway? This cosy fjord cabin by the fish-rich Jarfjord is made for small groups who love nature, fishing and long evenings together.

The cabin sits on an open, sunny plot just 50 metres from the water and has a spacious terrace with a magnificent view over the dramatic fjord landscape. Built in 1979 and renovated in 2020, with a brand-new kitchen in 2025, it now offers a comfortable, modern stay without losing its authentic, warm cabin vibe.

Inside you’ll find a snug living room with a glass-fronted wood stove – perfect for warming up after a day on the water or under the Northern Lights. There’s a modern bathroom with underfloor heating and free high-speed internet plus a flat-screen TV with many satellite channels, ideal for relaxed evenings.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms: one with a double bed (140 cm) and (from 2026) an extra single bed, and one with a family bunk bed, with a wide 120 cm lower bunk and a single upper bunk. In the winter-insulated annex you’ll find another family bunk bed, also with a wide lower bunk (120 cm) and a single upper bunk – great if you’re travelling with a group and want a bit of extra space.

In the yard there’s an additional winter-insulated annex with a double bed and a wood-fired sauna for up to 5 people in a separate building with its own dressing/relax room, sofa and chairs. Ideal for a private sauna session with your group after a day outside.

The fjord is rich in fish and known for its large king crab population. You can rent a 24-foot open boat with steering console, 140 hp outboard engine, sonar, GPS, chart plotter, rod holders and life jackets. The boat lies at the floating pier. There’s also a filleting bench with running water and light in the boathouse, plus a freezer by the cabin – everything you need for serious sea fishing. (Boat rental is available from 20 May to 1 October.)

Around the cabin you’ll find great hiking terrain for all levels and several lakes full of fish. The area is also a fantastic hunting region, with plenty of large birds in Pasvikdalen. In winter, the Northern Lights often dance across the sky – an absolute highlight for any group trip.

By car you can easily make day trips to the mining town of Kirkenes, the old fishing village of Bugøynes and King Oscar II’s chapel at Grense Jakobselv. The Russian border is only 8 km away. There’s a large parking area next to the cabin. The owner prefers guests to rent the boat together with the cabin, which makes this place a top choice for fishing friends and active groups.
