Looking for a peaceful hideaway in the middle of nature? This cosy little cottage in beautiful Österlen is the perfect place to slow down and recharge. Tucked away by the edge of a forest, you’ll wake up to birdsong and might even spot deer or other wildlife at dusk.

The cottage is compact and practical, ideal for a small family or a couple of friends. There are two small bedrooms, each with bunk beds (please note: one of the beds is only 70 cm wide), plus a living room with a sofa bed and a simple kitchen area. Everything you need for an easy-going holiday is within reach. From the dining area you step straight out onto the sunny south-facing terrace – perfect for a relaxed breakfast with freshly brewed coffee, a long lunch, or a cosy dinner that lasts until sunset.

Outside, nature is your playground. You’ll find great cycling routes and hiking trails nearby, so you can explore the rolling landscapes of Österlen at your own pace. Fancy trying your luck with fishing? Head to Lake Gyllebosjön (permit required) for a peaceful day by the water. For something a bit different, you can also ride a draisine on the old railway between S:t Olof and Gyllebo – a fun outing for both kids and adults.

In about 20 minutes by car you’ll reach Simrishamn, with its charming streets, small shops and lively harbour. Along the coast, picturesque fishing villages like Skillinge, Brantevik, Kivik and Vitemölla are strung out like pearls – all worth a visit. Families will love a day at Tosselilla Summerland in Tomelilla, while culture lovers shouldn’t miss medieval Glimmingehus Castle, the stone ship Ale’s Stones in Kåseberga and the beautiful Stenshuvud National Park.

After a day full of activities, it’s wonderful to come back to your cottage, fire up the stove or barbecue and relax on the wooden deck with good food and a drink – maybe with fresh products from one of the many local farm shops. About 40 metres away you’ll find a similar cottage that can also be rented (04700), ideal if you’re travelling with friends or family and want to stay close together while keeping your own space.
