General information

Looking for a cosy lakeside escape with a quirky twist? Barebones Glamping is a charming wooden cabin inspired by traditional clinker boats, like those you’ll see around Northumberland’s Lindisfarne Island. Here you stay right by the water, with uninterrupted views across the lake towards Bristol Lodge – once home to famous author Catherine Cookson.

The cabin sleeps up to four guests plus one child under 12, making it a great choice for couples, friends or a small family. Inside you’ll find a warm, inviting all-season living space with everything you need for an easy-going glamping break. The well-equipped kitchenette comes with a sink, kettle, toaster, fridge with small ice box, double ceramic hob and an electric oven with grill, so you can cook simple meals whenever you like.

For a good night’s sleep, there’s a comfortable king-size bed that can be curtained off from the living area for extra privacy, plus a king-size sofa bed in the lounge. A handy drop-leaf table with folding chairs turns the living space into a relaxed dining corner. An electric heater keeps the cabin snug on cooler days.

After a day outside, stretch out on the sofa and enjoy the 28" smart TV with DVD player or catch up online with the WiFi. On clear nights, head out to your private front decking or the gravelled side area to watch the sky turn pink over the lake and enjoy some stargazing with the guides provided. There are also birdwatching guides and OS Explorer maps ready for you, so you can spot local wildlife and discover nearby walking routes.

Kids are more than welcome here: there’s a nautical-themed outdoor play area with a cargo net, slide, small boat and raised platform – perfect for little pirates with big imaginations. Please note that pets are not allowed in Barebones Glamping; if you want to bring your dog, there are other pet-friendly cabins on site.

Whether you’re into wildlife watching, exploring the countryside or simply unwinding by the water, Barebones Glamping offers a peaceful, nature-filled getaway with a unique coastal feel.
