Urban Gardens is a large spread out campsite with nicely designed pitch areas depending on whether you choose hard standing or grass. Many of the pitches are gloomy as they are all surrounded by tall trees. Adjacent to the campsite is a beautiful lake which is a hive of activity with many different water sports on offer. The area is surrounded by sports and games activities from various clubs and organisations in the Ghent vicinity. Unfortunately during our visit the showers at Facility 2 were on the cold side of luke warm, there were 3 dish washing sinks, none with hot water and no one seemed to bother if other campers used a men’s or women’s facility ! Apparently the campsite is under a development programme to include upgraded facilities and accommodation. We didn’t try the pizza after reading the poor reviews. If you plan to use the bus for a visit into the city it’s a bit complicated and not explained by the campsite staff at all. The bus leaves every 20 minutes or so just around the corner from the reception road. It’s a park and ride bus so caters for all the commuters who leave their vehicles in the many car parks adjacent to the campsite. Jump on the number 11 bus and sit at the front as you’ll need to get off at the next stop and buy a ticket at the machine, the driver is happy to wait while you do this and the machine is in various languages so all very easy. The fare is 30 cents per person for a return ticket. Ghent city centre is very interesting and lots to see. If you like artistic graffiti ( not the vandalism type ) then a walk down Graffiti Street is a must. There are an abundance of cafés and restaurants. Beware of the trams and local cyclists who all ride very fast !

I have been waiting 2 months for a refund for a booking, outrageous. Fine campground for a few nights if you don't have too high expectations.
