Strolling through Ghent

This glamping in East Flanders is less than 5 km from the lively city of Ghent. A city is full of history, old canals, medieval masterpieces, cozy bars, and restaurants. Stroll the streets and discover the beautiful buildings, graffiti, and street art. Discovering Ghent from the water, during a cruise on the Leie, definitely belongs on the list of things not to miss. The Graslei and the Korenlei are the oldest and perhaps the most beautiful and cozy places in Ghent. Here you will find many nice catering establishments. Of course, tasting the real Ghent Noses should not be missed. You can find the best ones in one of the carts on the Groentenmarkt.

Venture into nature

In the natural surroundings, you will find endless cycling and walking routes. Less than 2 km from the glamping is the urban nature reserve Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen. This park, which covers 220 hectares, has three hiking trails that take you past beautiful green nature with meadows and forest areas. Tens of thousands of birds perch in this area every year. There are special bird-watching huts along the way where you can spot the most beautiful birds undisturbed.

Plenty of fun at Blaarmeersen Sports and Recreation Park

Glamping at Urban Gardens Ghent means free access to the Blaarmeersen Sports and Recreation Park. In this green park with a large pond, there are plenty of water sports activities to do. Get in a canoe or kayak and paddle up the Leie. Learn to water ski or go pedal boating. For children, there is a water playground with a slide and a sandy beach that completes the recreation park. There is also plenty of fun to be had on dry land. For example, there is a skate park, a climbing rock and you can play mini-golf. For children, there is a large playground with a maze and you can play beach volleyball. The recreation park also has a hiking trail where you can completely relax with a hiking mountain and observation tower to admire the surroundings.

    The only positive points about this campsite are its location, which means you can get to Ghent in 15 minutes by bus (stop next to the campsite) or by bike (cycle path), its landscaped surroundings and the size of the pitches. On the other hand, there are many negative points: - close to the freeway, resulting in constant background noise - damp, muddy pitches - old-fashioned, poorly maintained and unappealing sanitary facilities, with the exception of the small, recent block with limited facilities (3 showers and 3 WCs per side). Curiously, the large new block was closed for maintenance (?) at the time of our stay. - open toilet block 3 with only one toilet per side and no hot water for washing up - few electrical outlets, often far from the pitches, which limits the possibilities of setting up on site - very high nightly rate (€42 out of season for a pitch and 2 people), not justified by the quality of the sanitary facilities

    Seuls points positifs de ce camping: sa situation qui permet de se rendre en 15 mn à Gand en bus (arrêt à côté de camping) ou vélo (piste cyclable), son environnement paysager et la taille des emplacements. Par contre, les points négatifs sont nombreux: - proche de l'autoroute d'où bruit de fonds permanent - emplacements humides et boueux - sanitaires vieillots, mal entretenus et peu avenants à l'exception du petit bloc récent aux installations réduites (3 douches et 3 WC par côté). Curieusement, le grand bloc récent était fermé pour cause de maintenance (?) lors de notre séjour. - sanitaire 3 ouvert avec un seul WC par côté et sans eau chaude pour faire la vaisselle - prises électriques peu nombreuses et souvent éloignées des emplacements ce qui limite les possibilités de s'installer - tarif de la nuitée très élevée (42 € hors saison pour un emplacement et 2 personnes) et non justifié par la qualité des installations sanitaires

    It is a beautiful place, small islands within a fairly large campground. This still gives you a sense of tranquility. You do clearly hear a major road but are within biking distance of town. You can also take bus 11. Ghent is a beautiful city, very touristy but Ghent waterzooi is sooo delicious. At the campsite the infrastructure is outdated. What you see when you arrive continues for now in all the buildings. They have started to refurbish but for now it is expensive to get a sanitary building like this. Water is just not hot enough. Sometimes just cold. Not very clean. The cottages are completely new then you are probably good.

    Het is een mooie plek, kleine eilandjes binnen een vrij grote camping. Hierdoor heb je toch gevoel van rust. Je hoort wel duidelijk een grote weg maar zitten wel op fietsafstand van de stad. Je kan ook bus 11 nemen. Gent is een mooie stad, erg toeristisch maar Gentse waterzooi is zooo lekker. Op de camping is de infrastructuur verouderd. Wat je ziet als je komt aanrijden zet zich voorlopig nog verder in alle gebouwen. Ze zijn begonnen met de opknap maar voor nu is het duur om zo een sanitair gebouw voorgezet te krijgen. Water is net niet warm genoeg. Soms gewoon koud. Weinig proper te noemen. De huisjes zijn volledig nieuw dan zit je vast goed.

    Great campground,well served for access to Ghent ,great pitches bathrooms ok not from 5stars hotel but we are campers..if you want 5 star bathrooms change type of vacation,price adequate to rates in belgium friendly staff
