Stepping into history at Ooidonk Castle
Take the car and after a 20-minute drive, stand in front of Ooidonk Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Belgium. From April to November, it is possible on Sundays and holidays to take a guided tour of this still-inhabited castle, where you will learn more about the rich history of this medieval fortified castle. In July and August also on Saturdays. Would you like to stroll through the beautiful green gardens? That's possible from Tuesday afternoon to Sunday.

Strolling through Ghent
This glamping in East Flanders is less than 5 km from the lively city of Ghent. A city is full of history, old canals, medieval masterpieces, cozy bars, and restaurants. Stroll the streets and discover the beautiful buildings, graffiti, and street art. Discovering Ghent from the water, during a cruise on the Leie, definitely belongs on the list of things not to miss. The Graslei and the Korenlei are the oldest and perhaps the most beautiful and cozy places in Ghent. Here you will find many nice catering establishments. Of course, tasting the real Ghent Noses should not be missed. You can find the best ones in one of the carts on the Groentenmarkt.
Venture into nature
In the natural surroundings, you will find endless cycling and walking routes. Less than 2 km from the glamping is the urban nature reserve Bourgoyen-Ossemeersen. This park, which covers 220 hectares, has three hiking trails that take you past beautiful green nature with meadows and forest areas. Tens of thousands of birds perch in this area every year. There are special bird-watching huts along the way where you can spot the most beautiful birds undisturbed.
Plenty of fun at Blaarmeersen Sports and Recreation Park
Glamping at Urban Gardens Ghent means free access to the Blaarmeersen Sports and Recreation Park. In this green park with a large pond, there are plenty of water sports activities to do. Get in a canoe or kayak and paddle up the Leie. Learn to water ski or go pedal boating. For children, there is a water playground with a slide and a sandy beach that completes the recreation park. There is also plenty of fun to be had on dry land. For example, there is a skate park, a climbing rock and you can play mini-golf. For children, there is a large playground with a maze and you can play beach volleyball. The recreation park also has a hiking trail where you can completely relax with a hiking mountain and observation tower to admire the surroundings.

Beautiful tiny house with all the amenities. The AC works great, and the beds and sofa downstairs are very comfortable. The outdoor furniture could be a bit more comfortable.
Wonderfully peaceful in a green setting. Breakfast was well organized; we didn’t use any other facilities.
The bus to the center of Ghent is great—it runs frequently and stays in service late into the evening.
The beach is also wonderful for a day trip.this is a translation, click here for the original

A nice campground: the bathrooms are spotless and very comfortable. The campsites are spacious. If I ever return to Ghent, I’ll definitely consider staying at this campground.

Unfortunately, a big disappointment—lots of marketing, little substance
Our experience at this campground was, unfortunately, thoroughly negative.
The chaos began as soon as we arrived: a huge line at check-in, even though it was peak arrival time. There was only one staff member on site, who was clearly overwhelmed. I was fifth in line and had to wait a long time in 28-degree heat. The atmosphere was understandably tense—people were already honking their horns outside.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our stay.
The restrooms were in appalling condition: mold, dirt, hair everywhere, and far too few toilets and showers for the number of guests. On top of that, the lighting was poor, so it didn’t feel safe to be there even in the evening. Particularly unpleasant was the smell of feces, which wasn’t limited to the restrooms but could even be detected inside the camper. In the end, we could only hope we hadn’t caught any illnesses or athlete’s foot there.
On top of that, there was construction, landscaping, and forestry work going on all around the campground. Neither the website nor the booking confirmation mentioned that we should expect constant noise and disruptions.
What’s particularly frustrating is that if you read the reviews from recent years, these exact problems are mentioned time and again—along with the note that improvements were planned. Apparently, however, hardly anything has changed.
Instead of adjusting prices to reflect the site’s condition, they’re charging completely exorbitant rates here. We paid €51 per night for a RV with two adults. Given what’s offered, that’s in no way justified.
Our impression is this: lots of AI-generated marketing, beautiful pictures, and big promises—but once you’re there, appearances apparently matter more than substance.
The only plus is its convenient location near Ghent. However, our recommendation is very clear: You’re better off finding a campground a bit outside the city and driving a few minutes longer into town. It’s worth it.
Unfortunately, this campground cast a shadow over our visit to Ghent. As beautiful as the city is—it’s this stay that sticks in our memory most of all.
Finally, a request to the operator: Please spare us the standard AI response under this review. Instead, use the criticism that’s been voiced for years as an opportunity to finally address the obvious shortcomings.this is a translation, click here for the original

One night in a campervan. Cycled into Ghent. Worked well for us. More to do in the area than we had time to explore. Well organised place. Great communication

Nádherný a čistý kemp.
