The Caves of Han

The Caves of Han are one of the most impressive natural wonders of Belgium, located about 10 minutes from this glamping site in the Ardennes. These spectacular dripstone caves take you on an enchanting journey through an underground landscape full of stalactites, stalagmites, and unique formations. The guided tour leads you through the different chambers and light shows. In addition to the caves, there is also a wildlife park where you can admire animals from the region.


By kayak

With the kayak you can descend the beautiful Lesse, with starting points in Houyet (21 km, about 5 hours) or Gendron (12 km, about 2.5 hours). Would you like to rent a kayak? This is possible via the reception, and can be arranged up to one day in advance. You make a small deposit at the campsite and pay the rest upon departure. It is recommended to first drive to the endpoint and then take the train or shuttle bus to the starting point.

Villages in the Area

The villages of Ave-et-Auffe and Han-sur-Lesse are located a short distance from the campsite and are perfect for a pleasant outing. Ave-et-Auffe is a small, picturesque village where peace and nature take center stage. Stroll through the streets and enjoy the authentic atmosphere. Han-sur-Lesse is mainly known for the famous Caves of Han, but also has a lively village square with charming terraces and restaurants. Here you can taste local specialties and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere. In addition, the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for hikes and bike rides through beautiful landscapes. Both villages are an ideal combination of culture, nature, and relaxation.

    Als kind ben ik vaak naar Le Roptai geweest. Met veel enthousiasme boekte ik voor mijn verjaardag 2 dagen op de camping. Pure nostalgie toen ik aankwam. Vriendelijk onthaald geweest door de eigenaren van toen in de tijd. Alles verliep super. Tot de avond viel en het rumoer op de camping maar niet op hield. Lawaai tot 1u 's nachts, om dan om 6u opnieuw gewekt te worden door het constante geschreeuw van de kinderen die in de tent naast ons stonden. We zijn dan maar opgestaan om te gaan douchen. Daar moet je met muntstukken betalen. Ik was al 1 muntstuk kwijt gewoon door te wachten op warm water. Eens ik er eindelijk onder kon werd de temperatuur afwisselend tussen lauw en bijna kokend. Thuis douch ik mij altijd met heet water, maar hier kon ik de temperatuur echt niet aan. Te denken dat kinderen hier alleen onder staan te douchen.... Uit miserie hebben we ons gerief ingepakt en zijn we een dag eerder vertrokken. Voor 2 nachten betaald en maar van 1 nacht 'genoten'

    Huisje 56 valt letterlijk uitelkaar, je kan niet eens lekker op je terras zitten want je verzwikt of breekt je enkels. Iets met boomstammen waar van ze tegels hebben gemaakt maar ze zijn zo verrot dat ze afbreken. De voor deur zit aan de onderkant gewoon een gat , gaat ook moeilijk open en dicht. Net zoals de wc deur !!! Bed is echt voor kleine mensen de hoogslapers zijn nog oke. De kasten van de keuken vallen uit elkaar de lades alles is echt oude meuk net als de camping zelf. Zwembad is te klein niet om aan te zien. Kom je voor de rust zit je hier prima en de natuur. En wij houden van back to basic maar als je op de wc gaat zitten en het wiebelt alle kanten op en bent bang dat je eraf dondert nee is het niet waard dus huisje 56 is echt K#T even op zijn Nederlands gezegt.

    Ontzettend behulpzaam personeel op de oudste camping van België. Ons gas was op en het personeel bood aan bij hen thuis een pasta te koken. Vriendelijker dan dit wordt het niet. Voorzieningen zijn dik in orde.
