General information

Glamping holidays are becoming increasingly popular. Still, it's not new: the trend drifted over from Africa a few years ago. A wealthy man wanted to become one with the beautiful African wilderness during his safari, but didn’t want to give up the luxury he was accustomed to. The 'safaritent' was born.

Camping in the wild, but with a fully furnished kitchen, your own toilet and shower, and a wonderful bed instead of an air mattress. The Safaritent + sanitary facilities + air conditioning is, in addition to a toilet, shower, and air conditioning, equipped with an atmospheric kitchen, table, chairs, and a wardrobe for all your holiday outfits.

This luxurious safaritent comes standard with six sleeping places: 1 double bed and two very sturdy bunk beds. Duvets and pillows are, of course, provided as standard when you go glamping.
Fitted sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases should be brought yourself or can easily be rented.
You can also rent the baby package, consisting of a safe cot and a sturdy high chair.

This cool safaritent has a wooden veranda and a luxurious lounge set under a spacious canopy, so you can sit outside comfortably regardless of the weather. The tent fabric between the veranda and the living area can be partially or completely rolled up as you wish, creating even more living space: maximum enjoyment of the fresh air and still covered. Enjoy the peace and space of the Croatian nature with a lovely glass of wine and a book. And all that without having to cross the campsite with that eternal roll of toilet paper under your arm!

    Cancellation or change of booking


    Reservations can only be cancelled in writing.

    Cancellation fees:

    • For cancellations up to 60 days prior to arrival, no fee will be charged.
    • Cancellations between 60 and 28 days prior to arrival in the accommodation will be charged 60% of the travel fee.
    • Cancellations between 27 and 1 day before arrival in the tent will be charged 90% of the travel price.
    • Cancellations on the day of arrival at the accommodation will be charged in full.

    For changes made within 5 days of the booking date, the costs as stated in article 3 paragraph 1 may be waived by agreement

    The main booker can request changes to reservations up to 8 weeks before arrival at the accommodation. The change fee, if agreed, is €25.

    Changes involving partial cancellation are subject to the cancellation conditions for that part.

    If the reserved period is extended during the stay at the campsite, you must pay for the additional stay at the campsite, according to the prices listed on the website. No claim can be made to any offers.

    We recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance at the time of booking. The premium is 5.5% of the travel sum, € 3.50 policy cost and 21% insurance tax (on premium and policy cost).

    The following payment terms are applicable

    • Your deposit when booking is only 20% (payable within 7 days of booking).
    • 56 days before arrival you only need to pay the remaining payment (80%).
    • Important: when booking within 60 days before arrival at the accommodation, the entire travel sum must be paid immediately.

    This was our first time at this campground, and we’re glad we were in site 194—it was really quiet there. The restrooms were super clean and modern, and they were constantly being cleaned—there wasn’t a single moment when a cleaning lady wasn’t present.
    If it were possible, we’d give it 3.5 stars, for the following reasons:
    The dog beach is beautiful, with a grassy area and plenty of shade, but even here, the morning rush to reserve spots has taken hold—it’s annoying when you have to search for a free spot first thing in the morning among parked SUP boards, empty lounge chairs, towels, kids’ wagons, and so on.
    The shared path along the beach is dominated by e-scooter riders and cyclists who zoom through without a care in the world.
    I can’t confirm the negative reviews from other vacationers regarding dog waste, but I find it sad that other vacationers had to go through this experience, since as a dog owner, you’re happy when dogs are allowed on the campground.

    Wir waren das erste Mal hier auf dem Campingplatz und sind froh, dass wir auf dem Stellplatz 194 waren, da konnte man ziemliche Ruhe genießen. Die Sanitäranlage war super sauber, modern und es wurde ständig geputzt, keinen Moment erlebt, ohne, dass eine Putzfrau anwesend war.
    Wenn es möglich wäre, würden wir 3,5 Sterne geben, aus den Gründen:
    Hundestrand wunderschön mit Wiese und viel Schatten aber auch hier hat das morgendliche Platz reservieren Einzug gehalten, ärgerlich, wenn man sich morgens schon zwischen abgestellten Sup Boards, leeren Liegen und Handtüchern, Kinderbollerwagen etc eine freien Platz suchen muss.
    Der Gemeinschaftsweg am Strand ist in der Hand von eScouter- und Radfahrern, die ohne Rücksicht auf Verluste durchbrettern.
    Die Negativbewertungen von anderen Urlaubern was den Hundekot betrifft, kann ich nicht bestätigen, finde es aber traurig, dass andere Urlauber diese Erfahrung machen mussten, da man als Hundehalter ja froh ist, wenn Hunde auf dem Platz erlaubt sind.

    We had a lovely family holiday at this camp overall.
    The reception staff were helpful, although the queue to speak to someone could sometimes be as long as an hour, which was frustrating.
    Our caravan was quite small for a Premium option, but it was clean and in a good location.
    There are essentially four places to eat onsite: a burger bar on the beach, a restaurant next to the pool, a restaurant by the sea, and a small snack bar further up the beach.
    The pool area is lovely. However, charging €10 per sun lounger feels excessive, although we found that if you were only there for around an hour, you were not usually charged—mainly if you wanted one for longer.
    Overall, we found the onsite activities fairly basic and overpriced.
    For food costs, I’d recommend budgeting around €100 per meal for a family of four.
    Watch out for the live music, extremely hit and miss.

    We had a wonderful stay at the Valkanela Campground. The grounds are well-maintained, the campsites and mobile homes are clean, and the location right by the sea is simply fantastic. We highly recommend this campground, especially for families.

    The staff was always friendly and helpful, and we felt very comfortable throughout our entire vacation.

    If we could make one small request, ceiling fans on the terraces of the mobile homes would be the icing on the cake. Especially on warm summer evenings, that would make spending time outside even more pleasant.

    Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt auf dem Campingplatz Valkanela. Die Anlage ist gepflegt, die Stellplätze und Mobilheime sind sauber, und die Lage direkt am Meer ist einfach traumhaft. Besonders für Familien ist der Campingplatz sehr zu empfehlen.

    Das Personal war stets freundlich und hilfsbereit, und wir haben uns während unseres gesamten Urlaubs sehr wohlgefühlt.

    Wenn wir einen kleinen Wunsch frei hätten, dann wären Deckenventilatoren auf den Terrassen der Mobilheime das i-Tüpfelchen. Gerade an warmen Sommerabenden würde das den Aufenthalt draußen noch angenehmer machen.

    Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!
