The park is located on Lake Vaivre, an ideal location for nature lovers and active holidaymakers. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches and the friendliness of the staff, who make an effort to make everyone feel welcome. The direct proximity to the lake, the beach, and activities such as cycling and hiking make the stay attractive. However, there are areas for improvement: the sanitary facilities are outdated, often not clean enough, and lack temperature control in the showers, which regularly leads to frustration.

Attention: Lake no longer usable due to water quality since 19.8.2024 (officially closed)! Very annoying for us, we took a detour to be able to enjoy the hot days at the lake. Of course, it's not the fault of the beautiful campsite, but because it's a chain with an impersonal chain website, you don't find out that you can't use the lake. The second reason for coming here was the WLAN (for work): Is also broken and will not be fixed this year. I am writing this to let others know who want to come and swim in the next few days. The water park costs an extra 6€ p.p. and while it's fun for kids, there's virtually no lounging area, so it's really only for people who come for the swimming (and not: swimming, lounging, eating, reading, playing...).

Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the receptionist spoke Dutch and the other receptionist spoke reasonable English. We were also able to easily switch to a shadier spot for our folding trailer near the restroom/shower building, across from a large open area with a small playground. The sites are spacious and generally very shady, but we did have a lot of trouble with ants and small, light-colored cockroaches.
Unfortunately, the hygiene in the restroom building was fair to poor, though it was cleaned in the morning. The showers are cold.
There was no Wi-Fi and no entertainment. The restaurant has very tasty takeout pizza that you can pick up starting at 7 p.m.
The lake was a disappointment. The photo showed a clear lake, so we brought stand-up paddleboards with us, but the lake was overgrown with dense aquatic plants, making this impossible. The front part of the lake is cordoned off with a red rope so swimming is possible, and there are always three lifeguards on duty. Next to the swimming area, there’s also a fun playground. For €6 per person, you can use a small water park with slides for the entire vacation—it’s a 5-minute walk away:
. You can take a walk of about 5 km around the lake through a small village. Nearby in Vesoul, there’s a chapel on a hilltop that’s about a 10-minute walk up the mountain, offering a beautiful view. There are also a few very large and well-stocked supermarkets (where you can also buy camping gear, etc.) within a 10-minute drive. There aren’t many other activities available.

We stopped for a break at the Vesoul campground with our electric bikes. Although the staff was friendly, the place was very run-down and not very clean. Despite having explained our need to recharge our bike batteries when we made the reservation, we had to buy a camper van adapter for 15 euros upon arrival because there was no specific place to plug them in. It’s a bit of a shame for a place located along the Voie Bleue route.

Another downside: the shower temperature isn’t adjustable, so it’s either too hot or too cold.

Be careful—even though it’s explained in the description, the photo of the campground is misleading: the pool isn’t part of the campground, so you’ll have to pay 5 € to swim in a crowded pool.

As for the nearby lake, you’re out of luck with this heat wave: the water is green, so swim at your own risk.

    And finally, the noise...

In short, if you have no other choice for a stopover, just close your eyes and buy some earplugs. Otherwise, pick a different destination.

A quiet campground, a warm welcome, very clean restrooms, spacious sites, and the proximity to the amusement park was a real plus. We’ll be back! The shade helped us cope with the heat wave—it was over 36 degrees in the shade. Thanks to the whole team.
