The park is appreciated for its staff, central location in Alsace and peaceful setting by a stream. Guests praise the nearby municipal swimming pool facility that is freely accessible. Key areas for improvement are the hygiene of sanitary facilities (often described as dirty and poorly maintained), inconsistent customer service, limited opening hours of bar and restaurant, and insufficient enforcement of campsite rules.

I gave it just one star because I couldn't give it zero stars!! The campground is dirty and poorly maintained, the restrooms are out of order, the bar is only open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. even though that isn’t mentioned on the website, and the manager is unbearable. In short, stay away!!

Bref a fuir !!

This summer, we went to Camping Paradis Le Giessen for two weeks and booked a comfort cottage there. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, though their English was very limited. At first glance, the cottage looked neat, but it wasn’t really clean. On top of that, we were missing basic items in the kitchen, such as a cutting board (which is pretty handy, after all!), and the cutlery was of mediocre quality.

We stayed in a cottage near the front desk with our 9-month-old baby. You’d think that would be convenient—until you discover there’s a tent set up on the field next door for evening activities. Great fun for teenagers, but the noise went on until 11:00 p.m. With a 9-month-old baby, this is a disaster; it cost us quite a few sleepless nights.

As if that weren’t enough, we had to deal with serious technical issues. Halfway through the vacation, the drain trap under the sink suddenly came loose while we were doing the dishes. Everything flooded into the kitchen cabinets, across the living room floor, and all the way into the bathroom! The front desk was already closed, so we walked to the bar. Within 15 minutes, the maintenance crew was there to secure the trap, but that was the extent of their help. No mop, no extra towels, nothing. Since our own towels were completely soaked and dirty from the filthy water, we asked at the bar if we could use the washing machine as a courtesy. Unfortunately, we were told we simply had to pay to use the one in Sanitary Building 1. Not a shred of service or compassion.

Later in the week, it started to rain, and it turned out there was also a leak in the bedroom. There was a large puddle of water on the shelf above the bed (where, incidentally, an extension cord was lying!) and the entire bed was soaking wet. The maintenance crew showed up with a single small towel to dry things off and then expected us to go out and observe and locate the leak ourselves while it was raining. When we mentioned this to the front desk, they brushed it off with the excuse that “wood expands and contracts due to the heat.” After a long discussion, we fortunately did get clean bedding, but the damage was already done.

After all this hassle and the noise, we were so fed up that we went home two days early. Are you French and do you have teenagers? Then this is probably a great campground. But if you’re looking for peace and quiet with a young family? Then definitely skip this campground. In any case, we’re never coming back here!

Helaas: we moesten gewoon betalen in sanitairgebouw 1.
