Glamping Vauban next to the UNESCO city of Neuf-Brisach in Alsace
Camping Vauban is located on the edge of Neuf-Brisach, a fortified town that is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is a small-scale park in Alsace, with spacious pitches in green surroundings and comfortable glamping accommodations. The atmosphere is calm and laid-back, the kind of place where conversations at the tent start up naturally. There is no wifi, but that rarely turns out to be a loss. From the campsite you can explore the Route des Vins d'Alsace, hike in the Vosges, or drive to vibrant Colmar with its canals. Germany is only a few kilometers away, so a day across the border is easily arranged.

Walk along the ramparts of Neuf-Brisach
Right next to the park lies Neuf-Brisach, a star-shaped fortress town built by Vauban on the orders of Louis XIV, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk along the ramparts, wander through the geometric streets, and visit the Place d'Armes. In the Vauban Museum, you will learn how this military architecture worked. The town is small enough to cross on foot in a morning.

Taste a Riesling along the Alsace Wine Route
The Alsace Wine Route winds past vineyards and flower-filled villages, with stops like Eguisheim and Riquewihr. In Eguisheim, voted Favourite Village of the French, you can sample a glass of Riesling or Gewurztraminer straight from the winemaker. If you prefer two wheels, hop on a bike and ride the route at your own pace. Along the way you'll pass rows of grapevines as far as the eye can see, and before you know it you're halfway there and end up having a second glass after all.
Kayaking on the river Ill
Discover Alsace from the water and hop into a canoe or kayak on the river Ill. This calm river winds through a landscape of green banks, meadows, and picturesque villages, making it an ideal activity for both beginners and families. Along the way, you will mostly hear the gentle rippling of the water and the singing of birds, as you peacefully enjoy the nature around you. Thanks to the various rental points along the route, you don't need your own equipment and you can be on the water in no time.
Step into Colmar's Petite Venise
A visit to Colmar feels like walking through a postcard. In the atmospheric district of Petite Venise, colorful half-timbered houses are reflected in the narrow canals and flower boxes create a romantic ambiance. Then wander further through the historic center, past lively squares, boutiques, and cobbled streets. Settle down on a sunny terrace for a traditional tarte flambée and try a glass of local Riesling. The combination of history, gastronomy, and charm makes Colmar one of the most beautiful outings in Alsace.
