Canoeing on the Dordogne
One of the most popular activities in the Dordogne is canoeing. Paddle at your own pace past green riverbanks, impressive castles, and picturesque villages. Along the way, you can stop for a picnic or a refreshing swim in the river. Thanks to the calm current, this activity is suitable for both families and sporty holidaymakers. A relaxing and active way to discover the beautiful Dordogne Valley.

Sarlat and the most beautiful villages of the Dordogne
A short distance from the campsite lies Sarlat-la-Canéda, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in France. Wander through the atmospheric streets, visit cozy terraces and taste local specialties. Villages such as Domme, Beynac-et-Cazenac and La Roque-Gageac are also worth a visit. Here you can enjoy historic buildings, an authentic atmosphere and beautiful views over the Dordogne. Ideal for a relaxing day full of culture and French charm.
Castles, markets and local specialties
The Dordogne is known for its impressive castles and lively markets. Visit the famous Château de Beynac, which towers high above the river, or discover Château de Castelnaud, where the history of the Middle Ages comes to life. From the fortress walls, you can enjoy beautiful views over the valley and the surrounding forests. The markets of the region are an experience in themselves too. In Sarlat you will find one of the best-known markets in France, where stalls full of regional products such as truffles, walnuts, foie gras and local cheeses fill the streetscape. Stroll past the stalls, sample regional delicacies and experience the authentic atmosphere that makes the Dordogne so beloved by holidaymakers.
Caves, canyoning and adventure in nature
For lovers of nature and adventure, the Dordogne offers endless possibilities. Explore impressive caves such as Lascaux or the spectacular Gouffre de Proumeyssac, where you will discover rock formations millions of years old. Those looking for more action can take part in canyoning tours through gorges, natural water basins and past waterfalls. Hiking, mountain biking, climbing and horseback riding are also among the possibilities in this versatile region. Between the forests, rivers and limestone cliffs, you will keep discovering new landscapes. Whether you choose an active day full of adrenaline or a peaceful trip through nature, the Dordogne is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.

Les Charmes is a small-scale, green campsite with spacious, shaded pitches where guests quickly feel at home. The swimming pool with slide and rapids is praised by all ages as the absolute highlight of the campsite. The Dutch owners Yolanda and Emile welcome guests warmly and are always ready to help, which contributes to the friendly, family atmosphere. We spent two weeks on vacation at this lovely, friendly campground. The pool is really nice for a campground of this size. There were a lot of Dutch people at the campground, which made it easy for the kids (and parents) to get to know each other. Lots of children ranging in age from about 0 to 12 years old. The restrooms and showers were very … clean. There’s plenty to do in the area in terms of day trips. I agree with the review below that an extra washer/dryer would be nice, as would a shoe rack by the pool, but if that’s all there is… 😊

Top-notch campground, friendly people, a relaxed atmosphere, and a really nice pool for a campground of this size.
Lots of beautiful castles and charming villages nearby.
More than enough restrooms and showers (though there’s only one washer and dryer—they could use another set). Also, a small wooden rack by the pool would be handy for flip-flops. But definitely recommended for parents with children.this is a translation, click here for the original

A brilliant family run site! Small but wonderfully wooded with every pitch under shade. Pitch was a great size.
Facilities are spotless - although showers could be a bit bigger and warmer - with the pool a great hit with the 8 year old!
We were the only British on site (great!).
Quiet, calm and relaxed. About 20mins from Sarlat, river … etc.
The service and hospitality is brilliant - thank you!
We only wish this site was located in southern Breton, then we’d have our perfect holiday!! -

Simply exceptional!
The campground owners are exceptionally kind, friendly, helpful, and considerate. The tent sites are top-notch, and the large tents available for rent are fantastic.
The campground is spotlessly clean, extremely well-maintained, beautiful, quiet, and has an atmosphere unlike anywhere else!
You can even order bread and … pastries for the next day, which is very convenient and nice. You can also order homemade pizzas to enjoy at the bar or right at your campsite.
The renovation of the pools for the mini water park was a great idea, and my family and I were able to enjoy an exceptional weekend!
This isn’t my first time at this campground, and I definitely plan to come back!this is a translation, click here for the original

What a wonderful, authentic campground this is. This is exactly what camping is all about for me: charming, cozy, and super fun. A great, natural mix of caravans, folding trailers, and tents all mixed together. No neat little rows, just old-fashioned charm. Here, you’re camping right in the middle of nature. The sites are wonderfully shaded thanks … to the many trees, which is perfect for hot summer days. Small-scale and cozy: The campground exudes peace and charm.
The absolute icing on the cake is the owners’ hospitality. A huge thank you, in particular, to owner Yolanda! When my son developed a badly inflamed toe, she immediately sprang to our aid. She spontaneously offered a bowl of baking soda so he could soak his foot. So incredibly thoughtful, caring, and attentive. Here, you’re not just a number—you’re a true guest.this is a translation, click here for the original

A beautifully situated campground and a great base for exploring the Dordogne. Lots to do in the area. Very suitable for families with young children. Fantastic pool, nice playgrounds, and good service. Spacious changing area with a baby bath. The restrooms were kept spotlessly clean. It gets a bit busier during peak season, but by around 10:30 p.m. it was really quiet. We had a great time!
