Wander through the wine village of Sauternes

Sauternes is world-famous for its sweet white wines, but also for its beautiful walking area. The 8 km long ‘petite boucle’ takes you through rolling vineyards and past traditional wineries. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the scents of ripe grapes, atmospheric country lanes, and maybe even a tasting. This walk is light and easy, perfect for a morning or afternoon trip in the sun-drenched hills.

Discover the medieval charm of Villandraut

Just a few kilometers from the domain lies the village of Villandraut, where you will find a beautiful 6 km hiking trail. The route circles the imposing castle and leads you through the charming center and green surroundings. It is an ideal walk for families with children: not too long, little elevation change, and plenty to see and experience along the way. You literally walk through the history of the region.

Explore Lake La Prade

Combine a visit to the lively Saturday morning market of Bazas with a relaxing walk around Lac de la Prade. This 8-kilometer route is just a 10-minute drive from Domaine EcÔtelia and is perfect for a peaceful afternoon with the whole family. You’ll walk a well-marked loop around the lake in about 2.5 hours, where you can spot plenty of birds along the way and enjoy wide views over the water and surrounding fields. Bring a picnic or rest on one of the benches along the path. This walk is ideal for discovering the local flora and fauna and truly unwinding in a peaceful, natural environment.

Climb, jump and play in the adventure park of Bazas

Just a 15-minute drive from Domaine EcÔtelia, you’ll find Parc de Loisirs à Bazas – a true paradise for families packed with action and fun. This adventure park offers climbing courses among the trees, zip lines, bouncy castles, mini golf, and a play area with water and sand. Children from 3 years old can already join in with age-appropriate activities, while older kids (and parents!) can push their limits on the higher courses. The park is beautifully situated in the forest, so you can find some cool shade even on a warm day. Perfect for an afternoon change of pace after a relaxing morning at the estate. Combine it with an ice cream in the center of Bazas and you’ve got a perfect day for the whole family.

We just received a gift certificate for an afternoon, overnight stay, and morning at Domaine Ecotelia (the delightful Trapper’s House), and we were delighted by those hours that went by all too quickly:
    - The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, always ready to answer our questions and meet our needs.
    - The setting is a welcome change of pace—so peaceful, clean, and respectful of nature (we even took a walk in the estate’s forest).
    - The layout is unique, a reflection of the owner’s humanistic vision!
We have only one desire: to return for a slightly longer stay (and try out a different type of accommodation), and we highly recommend this place to anyone seeking tranquility and wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
A return to true values that, in fact, looks toward the future
    Bénédicte and Patrick

I spent a vacation there with my family! I highly recommend this place. It’s quiet, in the countryside next to the forest—a very pleasant spot—and the natural pool is fantastic; the kids loved it. Breakfast is served at the lodge. I’d definitely go back.

An extremely pleasant weekend in a quiet, peaceful setting, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The yurt we booked was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Little touches awaited us there, such as tea bags, a kettle, and a carafe of water. There was also a fan available in the yurt, which we appreciated upon arrival given the outside temperature. The breakfast included in the rate pleasantly surprised us—it was very substantial and included some “treats” we hadn’t even asked for when we arrived. The shared bathrooms were extremely clean and well-equipped. The staff there are very friendly, welcoming, and cheerful. An experience worth repeating without hesitation, perhaps to try a new type of accommodation!

We had booked a stay and purchased cancellation insurance to be covered in case of unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately, our 3-month-old baby fell ill a few days before our arrival. We were provided with a medical certificate attesting to his condition and notified the establishment 3 days before our arrival. Despite this, there was no understanding, no goodwill gesture, no rescheduling of the stay, and no refund. We were met with a flat refusal even though the situation involved the health of an infant. What is most shocking is that even with cancellation insurance and medical documentation, no solution was offered. One has to wonder what the point of this insurance is when such a legitimate case does not qualify for a refund or rescheduling.
