Explore the fortress of Carcassone
Take a journey back in time to the Cité de Carcassonne (UNESCO), a double ring wall with towers and alleys where knights seem poised to appear at any moment. Stroll along the ramparts, visit the Basilique Saint-Nazaire, and pick a bistro with a view of the fortress. Afterwards, combine your visit with Béziers: walk along elegant squares and the Canal du Midi, which descends the valley in a series of steps via the nine locks of Fonsérannes—truly spectacular to see. Shop in the old town, taste local wines on a terrace, and take a detour to a panoramic viewpoint. For families, this is a day full of variety: history that comes alive, monuments that speak, and plenty of cafés for ice cream, crêpes, or a quick snack. Comfortable, varied, and close to the campsite.

A day of culture and fresh air at the beach
Start in Narbonne, where you wander through the covered market halls, see the Via Domitia, and admire the gothic cathedral. Stroll through lively streets to the Quai de la Robine for a drink by the water. Then, in just fifteen minutes, drive on to the beaches of Gruissan: wide sandy stretches, shallow water, and a relaxed Mediterranean vibe. At the lagoons you'll find oyster bars and wooden stilt houses with beautiful views. Prefer something active? Rent a SUP or try kitesurfing when the tramontane wind blows. End your day with an ice cream on the boulevard or a table by the sea. Culture in the morning, beach in the afternoon: holiday as it should be.
Take a wine tour through Minvervois and Corbières
Wine and nature go hand in hand here. Tour through Minervois and Corbières, taste spicy red wines and olive oil at small estates. Continue to the lagoons of Gruissan (Natura 2000) for birdwatching — flamingos in the right season — or take a walk along wooden boardwalks with views of salt flats. Finish with oysters and seafood in a cozy brasserie by the water. Pure flavors, wide vistas, and yet very relaxed.
Spot Flamingos at the Lagoon of Gruissan
In the lagoons around Gruissan, you can spot flamingos in the right season. At sunrise or sunset, the water and sky are tinged a soft pink and you’ll see small groups foraging in the shallow water. Follow the wooden walkways and viewing points, bring binoculars and look out for quiet zones. Combine your walk with a tasting of local oysters: nature and flavour in one outing. Best period: late spring to early autumn.

Stay made on August 7, 2025 The accommodation corresponded neither to the photos nor to the description on the site and in our booking: from a large tent with double bed and kitchenette, we ended up in a small tent with no electricity and two single beds with plastic mattresses. In fact: the booking photos showed PREMIUMS tents, even though the booking was for single tents! I'd call this false advertising, not to say misleading. The "communal kitchen" consists of exactly two hotplates, a fridge, a microwave and a few utensils (for the entire campsite). The swimming pool is unsupervised, small and overall disappointing given the space it takes up in the campsite's internet presentation. The only pleasant features were the river next door (free) and the bar next door (not connected to the campsite), which hosts great parties. In short: beautiful surroundings, but the only good things nearby don't come from the campsite.

15-day stay in October on a pitch before the campsite closes for the year, beautiful region with walks nearby. In this season, the campsite's 4 stars are only worth 2 stars because there's no more entertainment, no more swimming pool, even the soap is missing from the toilets. Otherwise, the necessary facilities are present (shower, laundry...). Daily noise from nearby hunting parties, not forgetting the nearby village bell ringing every hour and also at night. The pitches are clean and spacious, but there's no active water supply. Too bad, because the area is great!

Very good welcome, very quiet place. But we realized in the middle of the night that the toilet didn't flush, so we used the outhouse... We found out in the morning that we had to turn on the toilet tap, as we hadn't been told anything on arrival. Otherwise, I'd recommend the place, it's great. Access from the Canal du Midi via Le Somail is convenient by bike!
