Water and the outdoors at Lac du Salagou

From the campsite, you are right next to Lac du Salagou. Here, everything revolves around being outdoors. You can swim, relax by the water, or head out onto the lake with a canoe, SUP, or pedal boat. Windsurfing and sailing are also possible. Along the shores, you'll find quiet spots to sit or have a picnic. At the end of the day, the light changes and the landscape slowly turns red and calmer.

Mountain biking and hiking among red hills

Around the lake you walk through a landscape that feels different from the rest of France. Red hills, open plains, and paths along the water alternate with each other. There are short routes and longer trips that lead you past viewpoints and quiet spots. You walk here without much development around you, with only nature and space. Mountain biking is also a logical choice in this area.

Rock Walking in the Cirque de Mourèze

About 15 kilometers away lies the Cirque de Mourèze, an area with limestone rock formations shaped by wind and water. The trails run through narrow passages, open spaces, and viewpoints. While walking, you pass rocks that resemble figures or animals, giving the area a playful character. There are short routes of about one and a half kilometers and longer hikes towards the summit of Mont Liausson. From there, you overlook Lac du Salagou and the red hills surrounding it. The contrast between the white stone and the red landscape makes this area strikingly different from the rest of the region and leaves a lasting impression.

Visit villages including Lodève in the area

Lodève is located about 10 kilometers away, a small town with a historic center, a cathedral, and a museum. Here, you can stroll through narrow streets and past squares where cafés and shops are located. In the region, you’ll also find villages such as Liausson, where old buildings and views over the surroundings come together. Along the way, you'll encounter vineyards and local producers where you can taste wine and regional products. Markets are also part of the daily rhythm in this region. The distances are manageable, making it easy to spend a morning in one village and an afternoon by the lake or on a walk in the area.

    Great—relaxed yet sporty.
But way too hot right now. 41 degrees in the shade. Pppfff.

Service: The front desk has regular office hours with a lunch break that allows staff to take a nap: it opens at 8 a.m., closes between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., and then reopens until 7 p.m.

The restrooms are cleaned during peak hours, which means they’re already dirty again before the cleaning is even finished!

Did security perhaps forget that they’re at a campground and not at a nursing home?

It’s far from accessible to people with limited mobility (all-terrain wheelchairs are perfectly at home here).
