Camping am Blanksee: peacefully located & directly by the lake with a sandy beach
Camping am Blanksee is located directly on Blanksee lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in the middle of the lake district of northern Germany. The lake is the heart of the campsite: guests swim, snorkel and fish there, or relax on the sandy beach and sunbathing lawn. From the jetty, you can cast a fishing rod or wade calmly in the water. On the park itself there are football, basketball and beach volleyball courts, and for children there is a playground with plenty of space to play outside. After a day by the water, sit on the restaurant terrace for a drink or a bite to eat. Fresh rolls are available every morning from the bread service. Bicycle rental is available for anyone who wants to explore the forests and lakes in the area. Canoes are also available to rent at the campsite. Nearby you will find a summer toboggan run, climbing forest, animal park and a barefoot trail. The cozy cities of Schwerin and Ludwigslust are a short distance away.

Swim and sail on the Blanksee
The Blanksee is right by the park. You can jump straight in for a swim or get into a canoe to explore the lake at a leisurely pace. The water is clear and the lake is big enough to paddle for an hour without seeing the same shore twice. Those who prefer to stay dry can walk along the shore on the forest paths that surround the lake. On a sunny day, the beach is a lovely place to simply sit while the forest stands behind you.

Village of Siggelkow & city of Schwerin
Siggelkow is the village that borders the park directly. You can walk through it in fifteen minutes, but the peace and low-rise buildings make it worthwhile. Small farms, meadows and quiet streets give a good impression of everyday life in Mecklenburg. After a round through the village, you walk back to the park via a country lane, taking in the fields and the forest edge on the outskirts of the village. Or head to the city and drive to Schwerin. In Alt Schwerin, you will find the AGRONEUM, an open-air museum about the agricultural history of Mecklenburg. You walk past authentic farm buildings, historical agricultural machines and furnished houses that show how people worked and lived in the countryside for centuries. A visit to the museum is perfectly combined with exploring the cozy city.
Step over to Plau am See
Plau am See is one of the more charming towns in the Mecklenburg Lake District. You can drive there in about 25 minutes. Along the banks there are terraces where you can settle down after a walk through the old town. The historic church and the medieval town gate can be seen in an hour, after which you have time left for a round through the marina, where sailboats and motorboats are moored side by side.
Kayaking on the Mecklenburg lakes
The Mecklenburg Lake District is one of the largest contiguous lake areas in Central Europe, with hundreds of lakes connected to each other by canals and small rivers. From Plau am See, about 24 km from the park, you can rent a kayak or canoe and paddle from lake to lake. The routes vary from a few hours to multi-day trips. If you prefer to be on the water without paddling, you can rent an electric motorboat for a more relaxed trip on the water.
