Biggesee

The campground was fine. The restrooms were clean and in good condition. Water and sewer hookups were available. The only downside was that the site wasn't even remotely level. Even with wheel chocks, the RV was still tilted. Otherwise, it was a perfect location for activities.

The staff is super friendly, laid-back, and helpful—just great! The prices for drinks and food are steep, so you’ll definitely need to shop elsewhere! Other than that, everything is perfect! Thanks!!!

We arrived on September 12 and will be staying at EuroParcs Biggesee until September 21, 2026—for nine nights with two people and a dog—and have had a relaxing camping vacation there so far.

Our impression of the campground has actually changed a bit over the past few days—and that’s exactly why we’d like to provide a more detailed … review.

First of all, the beautiful location on Lake Biggesee really stands out. The lake, forests, and rolling countryside create a stunning backdrop. If you enjoy going for walks, taking your dog out, or simply seeking peace and nature, you’ll find truly beautiful conditions here. When the weather is nice, the view of Lake Bigge is simply fantastic.

We also really liked our campsite. The plot was exceptionally spacious. Our trailer with an awning, car, and bicycles fit easily, and we still had plenty of space to spare. The campground was pleasantly quiet during our stay.

However, as we explored the entire park, we initially came away with somewhat mixed impressions. On the one hand, you see new and modern vacation accommodations as well as areas that are already beautifully designed. On the other hand, there are buildings and facilities that clearly show their age. In our opinion, there’s also room for improvement when it comes to the restroom facilities. The restroom building that was open was functional and generally clean, but there’s still room for improvement in terms of amenities and, in some cases, cleanliness. Another restroom building was closed during our stay, but very basic portable restroom units had been set up instead.

Then we had a lengthy conversation with the friendly staff at the front desk—and afterward, we saw some things in a different light.

We learned that EuroParcs took over the campground only about 1½ years ago and has been gradually investing in, expanding, and restoring existing areas ever since. This explains the currently still noticeable difference between the old and already renovated areas. After all, a campground of this size cannot be completely renovated within a few months.

What was particularly important to us was the information that about half of the site is set to remain a campground in the future. This means that travel trailers and traditional campers are by no means going to gradually disappear. Further investments are also planned for this area. As travel trailer campers, we were very pleased to hear this.

The issue of food service has also been clarified. Search results online—particularly on Google—sometimes create certain expectations. In fact, according to the staff, this campground never had food service in the past either. It’s important to know this, and naturally, the current operator shouldn’t be held responsible for it.

And this is exactly where our impression changed:

What at first glance appears in some areas to be a somewhat aging campground turns out, upon closer inspection, to be a site in the midst of a major redevelopment. The first changes are already visible, though there is still much work to be done.

We therefore don’t want to gloss over the existing shortcomings. We’d especially like to see further improvements in the future regarding the restroom facilities, the upkeep of certain areas, and the aging infrastructure. After our conversation, however, we had a much better understanding of where the campground currently stands and where it’s headed.

We found the staff to be friendly, the location is fantastic, our campsite was really nice and spacious, and the surroundings were excellent for our dog as well.
The campground does not have its own direct beach access, even though the map might suggest otherwise.

Our conclusion

For us, EuroParcs Biggesee is not yet a fully modernized vacation park—but rather a camping and vacation park in the process of transformation. And perhaps that is the fairest description at the moment.

Really average. The parking spot is at an angle, there's a makeshift portable toilet, and it's not very nice. It's relatively expensive and way out of the way.

The sleeping pod only seems great at first glance. There’s absolutely no privacy or way to block out the light (no curtains or blinds, either in the front or the back). Drafts come in through every crack. There’s a complete lack of attention to detail. They just plopped it down there, and that’s it.
The restroom trailer wasn’t clean. According … to the schedule, it had last been cleaned days earlier. It smelled very unpleasant. The men’s restroom didn’t have a door handle. The restroom building wasn’t properly clean either. Yes, you can’t blame the people responsible, but it should still have been cleaned up after two days.
The campground’s location is really great. Just a few meters to the beach, but it was closed. So no beach bar either. We ended up making our way to the lake along the fence.
The reception staff was curt. They just shoved the paperwork into our hands. No explanations whatsoever. They didn’t even notice that we’d presented the wrong ID. When we asked about the restroom facilities, they were brief or showed little understanding.

Actually, the campground has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it looks incredibly neglected. Both the campground itself and the restroom facilities are unkempt in many places. Given the size of the campground, there are two restroom buildings, but one appears to have been closed for a long time (small trees are already growing in front of the … door), and the other was once nicely built, but it’s far from clean and well-maintained. The opening hours at the reception/store aren’t standard (by 8:30 a.m., most campers are up and would already like to have breakfast).
