Chalet LU6 - 6 persons

We booked a midweek stay at Landal Bospark Lunsbergen. We arrived a little earlier than usual, so we took a walk around the park. We looked for our cottage to see where we were staying, and once we found it, we walked around it. The first thing I noticed was that there were sandwich bags filled with dog poop lying under the downspout. I reported … this to the front desk, and they said they would take care of it. Around 4:00 p.m., we were finally allowed to head to our cottage. Once inside, a few things did catch our attention. Clumps of dust here and there on the floor, cobwebs here and there—even in the bedroom. Dead insects (flies) smeared on the walls. The kitchen, where the range hood only has the light working, and when you touch it, grease gets on your hands and dust falls onto your food.
The protective cap on the doorknob keeps falling off.

I’ll take a closer look tomorrow to see what else I find.

We had a wonderful time.
What beautiful fall scenery!

A really nice place—too bad there wasn't a handicapped parking spot near our cottage.
We couldn't get the car close enough.

You can leave your car on the premises.
45 minutes from Germany.
Very affordable.

Swimming pool and a small supermarket near the reception desk.
There’s also entertainment.

Nice village.
An Aldi, an Ah, and a Nettorama.
A small Hema.

Definitely highly recommended.

The cottage was dirty and it smelled really bad...

The location gets a five.
You walk through the woods both inside and outside the vacation park.

But the beds are a total disaster, which really ruins the experience. We had the cottage for 11 nights, and after just one night, our backs, necks, and shoulders had already had enough. On top of that, the furniture is falling apart. The … couches are just like the beds—they sag. The plastic chairs outside are also terrible. Still, it’s about time Landal did something about this, because this issue keeps coming up in the reviews.

What also struck me while booking is that you can choose an “extra” option for a box spring in your cottage. The cottage already has a box spring… so you’re spending extra money when it’s already there.

The cottage was clean, though. And lovely in the sun. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in the height of summer—there’s no AC, and the temperature inside the cottage was already climbing to 25 degrees.

I wish the pool’s hours were earlier and longer, and during peak season, the pool is way too small. Plus, there are three showers that only produce a lukewarm trickle of water.

We left early; our bodies couldn’t take the hammocks anymore.

Did we talk to the front desk? No, we didn’t. That’s also because you don’t have to go there to check in or out. And judging by the reviews, the staff at the front desk isn’t very solution-oriented. Read more Show less
