Family Weekend for Grandma’s 84th Birthday—What a Disappointment

We booked a 12-person accommodation at EuroParcs Zuiderzee to celebrate our mother’s 84th birthday with eleven family members.

Upon arrival, the temperature inside was 28°C, and we found that the door to the patio off the living room wouldn’t open because the doorknob … was missing. According to the front desk, maintenance would come right away. After waiting over two hours without any update, we went to check on the situation ourselves. It then turned out that the problem had already been reported but could not be fixed.

In the meantime, we had made up all eleven beds, unpacked our groceries, prepared the meal, and festively decorated the cottage. Everything had to be packed up and put away again.

Since no other 12-person accommodation was available, we had to move to two separate homes. Gone was the idea of staying under one roof with the whole family. We couldn’t eat until well past 8:00 p.m.

The replacement homes were also insufficiently clean: dust, dead insects, dirty cutlery, and a severely frozen freezer (just the tip of the iceberg).

The way the complaint was handled only added to our disappointment. EuroParcs offers only a voucher for a future stay and a towel package. They refuse to issue an actual refund, despite our detailed explanation.

Fortunately, we as a family did have some wonderful moments, but that was in spite of the problems, not because of the organization.

A disaster—absolutely not recommended!

We are extremely disappointed with EuroParcs Zuiderzee. We’ve rarely experienced anything like this! The entire park looked dirty and unkempt, and our vacation home was anything but clean when we arrived. Given the prices you pay for a vacation, this is simply outrageous. You’d at least expect a clean … house and a well-maintained facility—apparently that’s asking too much!

The indoor pool was practically unusable for us due to the extremely unpleasant odor and lack of cleanliness. Especially when you’re on vacation with kids, that’s an absolute no-go! You look forward to spending time together and being able to use the facilities on offer, and then you end up so disappointed.

As if that weren’t enough, the restaurants were closed, too. That takes away even more options that you’d actually expect at a vacation park of this kind.

What exactly are you paying for here? A dirty vacation home, an unkempt resort, an indoor pool you wouldn’t want to use because of the stench and grime, and closed restaurants. There’s really no question of relaxation, a vacation vibe, or a reasonable value for money here.

What’s particularly frustrating is that you look forward to the vacation, pay for it, and then spend your time getting annoyed by the conditions. For us, it was a huge disappointment and definitely not the kind of vacation you’d imagine.

Our conclusion: Never again EuroParcs Zuiderzee! Based on our experience, we absolutely cannot recommend this park. Something urgently needs to be done about the cleanliness, maintenance, and on-site amenities here. That’s not how you win over satisfied guests—quite the opposite. As experienced EuroParcs and CenterParcs visitors, we were dazzled by the pictures on the website and arrived here on a Monday. The reception staff were friendly when we checked in. There was nothing but dirt and trash all over the paths. Then when you want to eat here, everything is closed until Thursday. At night, there’s nothing but noise … throughout the entire campground! Parties, cars racing around and honking.
In summary, simply the worst campground and absolutely not recommended for families! Read more Show less

This is Ysu for homeless people. You'll find nothing but slop here, and there's mold everywhere. The pool is broken and it's cold—not recommended. Don't go here unless you're broke.

Chyžnym sme nechali 20€ na stole z odkazom že stojíme o skutočnú čistotu, odpísali nám robili sme čo bolo v našich silách (peniaze si samozrejme vzali) a všade bola kopa prachu a staré prádlo a neustlané postele 🤦🏼‍♂️ jediné čo bolo fakt čisté bola asi podlaha, kúpeľňa, a tuším asi okná ale tak tieto veci neboli ani nejako viditeľné špinavé ani keď sme si objednali upratovanie šlo nám hlavné o nové povlečenie na postele, vankúše a paplóny 😒
