Summary created out of 121 reviews

De Kleine Wereld is a small-scale, child-friendly campsite with a strong holiday atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings. Guests praise the cosy bistro with a terrace overlooking the natural playground, the heated swimming pool, and the brand-new, clean sanitary facilities with spacious family showers. The location near the Appelbergen nature reserve offers beautiful walking and cycling routes, with the city of Groningen nearby. Points of criticism concern the cramped camping pitches (especially in high season), the high prices in the bistro with a limited menu, and occasionally sloppy service where orders take a long time or are delivered incorrectly.

The location is beautiful, with a gorgeous pool and play areas for children. The campground and bistro have a very modern look! Service at the bistro was a bit slow, and the food was a bit pricey for what you get. The simple snacks were the best!
Nice atmosphere on the campsites. The sites are a bit on the small side.

    Positive points:
    - plenty to do in the area, close to the city, many bike routes
    - close to Zuidlaren/Haren
    - nice bistro with delicious food

    Areas for improvement:
    - the restrooms are really dirty; many people had the stomach flu, which was reported to the front desk. At the front desk, they said they had no idea how often the facilities were actually cleaned. During peak season, it’s absolutely essential that the facilities be thoroughly cleaned several times a day, especially with young children who frequently use the restroom on their own. I never saw anyone give the restrooms a thorough high-pressure cleaning or make them smell fresh. All you’d see now and then was a cloth with a bottle of all-purpose cleaner, and they’d just go from toilet to toilet.
    - There was a lot of noise pollution at the campground in the evening; this needs to be better enforced. Luckily, it was quiet by midnight. Many children went to bed late and were still running around and shouting.
    - Little consideration for the younger crowd; for example, loud music could regularly be heard from organized discos.
    - The pool pump runs at night and is audible in the back field. (loud hum)
    - As others have mentioned in previous reviews, it’s normal to be packed like sardines; every available space is used to set up tents or RVs.
    - A very nice pool at the campground, though many adults aren’t wearing campground wristbands. It’s very crowded there, so it’s doubtful whether everyone actually stays at the campground, given how easy it is to just walk right in.

In short, everything looks great on Instagram, but there’s definitely still room for improvement. :)

    Positieve punten;
    - veel in omgeving te doen, dichtbij de stad, veel fietsroutes
    - dichtbij Zuidlaren/haren
    - leuke bistro met lekker eten

    Verbeterpunten;
    - het sanitair is echt vies, veel mensen hadden buikgriep virus, dit aangekaart bij receptie. Bij receptie werd aangegeven dat ze geen idee hadden hoevaak er eigenlijk werd schoongemaakt. In hoogseizoen is het echt noodzakelijk dat er meerdere keren per dag goed wordt schoon gemaakt, zeker met doelgroep kleine kinderen die veel zelf naar wc gaan. Nooit gezien dat er met hoge druk door heen werd gegaan en fris rook. Alleen doekje met allesreiniger fles zag je af en toe en dan ging t van wc naar wc.
    - in avond veel geluidsoverlast op camping, hier zal beter moeten worden op gehandhaaft, met geluk was het om 00.00 stil. Veel kinderen die laat naar bed gingen en nog rond gilden.
    - weinig rekening met jongere doelgroep, zo was er regelmatig harde muziek te horen vanuit georganiseerde disco’s
    - zwembad pomp is in nacht aan, hoorbaar op achterste veld (harde zoem)
    - zoals in eerdere reviews ook door anderen is genoemd, haring aan haring staan is normaal, alles wordt benut om tent of caravan op te zetten.
    - een heel mooi zwembad op de camping, echter veel volwassenen zonder campingbandjes. Het is er erg druk, dus twijfelachtig of iedereen er daadwerkelijk verblijft gezien je gemakkelijk er gewoon in kunt.

Wow, what a wonderful first week we had. We were there with our two boys, ages 6 and 9, in our camper, and they
had a fantastic time. The kids naturally gravitate toward each other and all play together, regardless of age. It’s also a great base for various day trips! Groningen, Schiermonnikoog, and so much more. The outdoor pool was lovely, and the restrooms were top-notch!

    I’ll start with the pros:
The campground is fairly small, with plenty of play areas for kids and a great pool. It’s truly a family-friendly campground; kids can really enjoy themselves here. Lots of greenery and wildflowers. The campground has a nice terrace, and you can see the playground clearly from there.
The restrooms are fine. There’s no time limit for showers, which is nice.
There’s a bus stop right in front of the campground; it takes just twenty minutes to get to Groningen Central Station.

    Cons:
Very, very expensive. Three nights will easily set you back 200 euros.
The spots are super cramped; you’re practically bumper to bumper, and there’s only a few meters between you and your neighbors across the way. I think charging 200 euros for this is a bit much

The food is also pretty pricey.
Two croquettes on rustic bread? You pay 13.50 for two croquettes on two supermarket slices of tiger bread, without a salad or anything like that.
A yogurt bowl with “homemade granola”? On the breakfast menu, it costs 10.50 here; on the lunch menu, 13.50.
It’s especially nice to make your own food!

Would I go back here again?
It was a fun weekend, but there are plenty of other campgrounds where kids can have a great time, so no.
