Having visited several French Huttopias during previous May vacations, this time we spent a few days in Limburg. De Meinweg is in all respects a typical Huttopia park, but even more beautiful and spaciously set up than the French campsites we have seen. The set-up of playground and terrace is also nicer than what we saw before. The location of the park is beautiful, you are in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve and also have two catering establishments within a few minutes walk (Venhof and the Forest Lodge, the former is also an equestrian center). The pool seems a bit small for the size of the park but especially in the morning hours it was surprisingly quiet. We ourselves had an Evasion cottage. That house was fine, although quite cramped for 4 people (let alone 5). A big disappointment was the bar, in all respects: on one day no alcohol was served for unclear reasons - with a terrace full of thirsty people - and the next day it was, but then the bar closed down completely while the terrace was still full of people eating. Also the bread service is not well organized, we were waiting for more than 20 minutes for 2 croissants because the lone and inexperienced bar employee had to do everything alone. Another point: we didn't have to deal with it ourselves now but I did come across the 'preferential rate' when booking on the website, and also read it in other reviews. People at Huttopia, please stop doing that, at least double charging that rate if you want two spots next to each other.

Nice place with weaknesses at high utilization. The site is beautifully situated in the forest on the edge of the national park. The campsite was fully booked on the 1st weekend in May. We had booked a joint reservation for 2 families. The pitches were not allocated next to each other but 300 meters apart. Unfortunately, the reception was not flexible enough to swap the pitches so that our wish to stand next to each other could be fulfilled. The fact that you can pay 35 euros for this was not apparent when booking the pitch. However, we assumed that if 2 pitches were booked in one booking, these pitches would be next to each other. We wouldn't have cared where. The staff at reception seemed overwhelmed. We were very disappointed as we had planned to eat and drink together and had to lug everything back and forth. The sanitary block was very dirty and was not cleaned often enough at this capacity. There was a constant lack of soap and toilet paper and the drainage system didn't work well, so it always smelled unpleasant. The camper service for Womos was clogged and did not drain and therefore could not be used. It also smelled nasty around the waste disposal station. The garbage at the garbage dump was piled up in bags. Saturday evening the pizza in the restaurant was sold out. We had the feeling that the campsite and its infrastructure would reach their limits when fully booked. Nevertheless, we would book the campsite again during the high season with less occupancy, because it is actually very idyllic. I didn't like the pitches by the fence on the road. Further into the forest, really fantastic individual pitches. But urgently clean more often. The sanitary building was really square, although it looks modern at first glance.

Blick modern aussieht.

Nice location in the woods, which makes the limited space in the Evasion cottages fine for a few days. We were outside a lot anyway

We waren toch veel buiten
