A very picturesque, green, and peaceful spot.
The campsites are well-spaced and very clean.
Really nice food trucks and pizzas that are a great value.
There are plenty of facilities for kids and adults (volleyball, ping-pong, pétanque), swings, etc.
Ideal spot for exploring the surrounding area, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Lake nearby—a 10-minute drive. A shaded spot that’s great for taking a shower, enjoying some activities, or having a picnic.
But the pool is way too cold, and the restrooms—while well-equipped—are very dirty… that’s the only downside. Maybe there are too many visitors and inconsiderate campers…
That won’t stop us from coming back.

It is a lovely camping with enormous potential, nested right in the forest, which makes it very special and scenic. We had a lovely week there.
But they could definitely do with some improvements...

    ACTIVITIES
    * they advertise and offer more than they actually deliver. There is a big marketing around the camping beyond camping itself, with evening activities and activities for kids. Turns out there was only one evening with activity (live music, very nice), and they say the pool being open until 9pm is also a type of "evening activity". The improvement option here would be: be up for what they advertise they do OR advertise less about all the activities offered since there aren't many activities taking place in real life.
    * kids' kraft activities were only in the mornings, and they felt a bit boring at some point - my son would call the activity person as the "camping juf" because he felt like he was doing school activities with her. The camping is an amazing space and, with some creativity and energy, the activities offered have enormous potential. But that's not what we saw when we were there.
    * the swimming pool could have some improvements: it was very cold all the time, the wooden deck of the covered pool was very slippery in it wet areas and dangerous with kids running around, it had a very strong smell of chlorine and and the pool could do with some good cleaning - there was green slime in the floor.
    * also in terms of improvements, they opened a new time slot for the horse carriage ride in the forest since all previous ones were fully booked, but then they forgot to tell the venue responsible for the carriage ride that this would happen. The result was that we went to the place offering the carriage ride, they were unaware of it and completely unprepared, and we waited over 45' to have the carriage ride because they really didn't hear from Huttopia about this time slot.

    ACCOMODATION
    * we stayed in the roulette and it was really cool, nice and good installations, but we could definitely do with a cleaner roulette - the fridge was dirty and there was a lot of dust under the beds.

    STAFF / SERVICES
    * the staff was very nice and welcoming, but the camping was very understaffed for the peak season. Each time we wanted to ask something in the reception it would be at least 20 minutes waiting in line.
    * The process for us to rent our bikes took, as a whole, 45 minutes. Between the waiting lines in the reception to understand how the system works, then choosing the bikes, then realising there was a problem with the system so the bikes we chose weren't exactly available, to then choosing again and getting in line again to pick it up...
    * it was peak season and still they underestimated the amount of pizza. In the only day we wanted to eat pizza, it was over 25 minutes before 8pm, when it would be over. Again, for a place that really has its peak season during summer holidays, that feels like a very basic miscalculation.

⭐ 1/5 – The Temu version of Huttopia

I was born in a hotel; my parents ran a hotel, and I work in the industry myself. I know how hospitality works. This campground is the exact opposite.

We booked 22 nights with our family. We specifically chose Huttopia because of its name. After six days, we decided to leave—just a few more nights, then we’re out of here. We weren’t even halfway through our vacation. Here’s why.

The pool: closed three times in the six days we’ve been here so far. Right in the middle of a heat wave. And on the day it *was* open, the water was so murky you couldn’t even see your own feet. You don’t go in there with kids. Scroll through the reviews here: we’re not the only ones. This is a recurring issue.

The restrooms: dirty. Day after day.

The food and beverage service: a forty-minute wait in line for a beer, while no one was making the rounds. I even ended up cleaning other guests’ tables myself. In the morning, the glassware from the night before was still sitting there. At McDonald’s, someone is constantly clearing the tables. Not here.

The front desk: The manager won’t even look at you, and complaints are brushed off. When I asked for an answer, the manager threatened to have me removed from the campground—right in front of my child.

So we’re leaving. With five children and a dog, in the middle of the season, looking for a new place. Because staying was no longer an option.

And then? A formal complaint to headquarters: no response for days. The general manager: can’t do anything. Our money: apparently, we can kiss that goodbye. And when we brought it up again on-site, the park manager wanted to call the police because he was getting upset that other staff and guests actually thought I had a valid point. That’s how they react to a guest asking for a refund due to negligence. Apparently, at Huttopia, you’re supposed to keep your mouth shut 😅.
