Huttopia De Meinweg

Our experience at this campground was a mixed one.

First of all, we’d like to commend the team at the front desk, the bar, and the entertainment staff. They clearly work hard, are friendly, and do their best to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. The atmosphere at the campground is also fantastic. The campground is spacious, with a strong focus on nature. Not every available spot is built up or filled. With temperatures around 30 degrees, you almost feel like you’re in the South of France—but right here in your own country.

What unfortunately disappointed us greatly was the hygiene in the restroom facilities. Even taking into account the high season and the crowds, the maintenance is far below par. The restrooms are downright dirty and aren’t cleaned often enough.

Stains on the shower walls sometimes remain for more than two weeks. Shower drains get clogged because they aren’t properly maintained, and there’s visible caked-on grime in the corners. It seems that the building is mainly given a quick mop-down without any thorough cleaning.

In addition, the cleaning crew gives the impression of spending more time smoking than actually cleaning the restrooms. A good scrubbing machine would certainly not be a luxury here. Wiping down shower walls, keeping drains clear, and thoroughly cleaning floors and corners aren’t extra services—they’re the basics of proper restroom maintenance.

That’s especially unfortunate, because the campground has so much to offer in other areas. Better and more frequent restroom maintenance would significantly improve the overall experience.

You think you’ve booked a nice vacation, until you walk into the restroom. That was a shock—it was downright filthy. You can’t even imagine how dirty it is. Many areas haven’t even seen a cleaning cloth. They clean here with just one spray bottle and one cloth… which they use on the toilet, sinks, and so on. But there’s no sign of a proper bucket of soapy water anywhere.
So I filed a complaint at the front desk…According to the manager, this wasn’t the first complaint. But because I kept insisting that it was really dirty, he went to check it out himself and called me over. He didn’t see what I saw. What I see are dirty walls that have never been wiped down—if you were to shine a UV light here, you wouldn’t believe what you’d find.
Absolutely everything is too dirty to touch.
But it still hasn’t been given an extra cleaning.
I filled out the complaint form on the website….then I called Huttopia, but they couldn’t do anything for me.
If you’re thinking of booking here, think twice about whether you’re willing to be a bit lenient when it comes to hygiene. And the pool water is murky, too....probably because the chlorine and pH levels aren’t right.
I’ve been to many campgrounds in various countries, but I’ve never seen anything like this. It was my first time at Huttopia—and my last!!

An absolute natural paradise for families with dogs!
We’re having an absolutely wonderful time here right now and are completely thrilled. If you’re looking for the perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and comfort, this Huttopia campground in the Netherlands is the place for you.
What makes this campground so special to us:
- Pure nature & plenty of space: The campsites are beautifully integrated into the greenery. You have plenty of privacy and the feeling of camping right in the middle of the great outdoors, without having to sacrifice well-maintained restroom facilities.
- A dream for kids: The campground is extremely kid-friendly. Since everything is very spacious and traffic-calmed, the kids can move around freely, explore nature, run around on the playgrounds, or splash around in the pool. It never gets boring!
- Absolutely dog-friendly: Our four-legged friend is simply part of the family here. Dogs aren’t just allowed—they’re warmly welcomed. You can set out on beautiful walks right from the campground.
- The atmosphere: You can really feel the typical Huttopia vibe—relaxed and very warm. The on-site team is super friendly and makes sure you feel right at home from the very first minute.

Bottom line: A wonderful getaway for the whole family (including our furry friend). We’re enjoying every second and will definitely be back! Highly recommended and a well-deserved 5 stars!
