A very disappointing stay and absolutely no response from EuroParcs

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but the way EuroParcs has handled our complaint unfortunately leaves me no other choice.

We stayed in cottage 626 at Hackfort 6 at the end of June. Upon arrival, we found that the accommodation was, unfortunately, far below our expectations. Several pans were completely scorched, and we had to clean them ourselves before we could use them. In addition, there was a very pungent smell of sweat coming from the couch. We reported this immediately to the front desk the next morning.

The cleaning staff came by and acknowledged that they could clearly smell the odor as well. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse after that: due to the steam cleaning, the couch was unusable for the rest of the day, and the odor was not resolved. With five people, this meant we couldn’t use the living room normally. It also turned out that the outdoor table was broken.

Because of these issues, we were unable to enjoy our vacation as one would expect, and we ultimately left a day early.

When checking out, we asked what EuroParcs could do about this. We were told that the complaint had to be submitted by email. We did so, but despite contacting them multiple times (even by phone this week), we still haven’t received any substantive response or update. The complaint is reportedly with headquarters, but other than that, there has been no further communication.

We find this very unfortunate, because the park itself is beautiful. That is precisely why it is especially disappointing that the condition of the accommodation and, above all, the lack of communication from EuroParcs had such a negative impact on our stay.

We are still hoping for appropriate compensation and, above all, a serious response from EuroParcs.

Highly recommended for families

The location is nice but if you are planning to get your boat here to go fishing you need to think about a couple of things, which the stuff is not informing you about. There is a very narrow and low bridge dividing the park, which your boat needs to fit under if your house is in a certain spot. The stuff is also quite unhelpful and in the weekend, nothing is possible...

There were three of us, and we had a house by the water. It was okay for three people. However, it was clear that they don’t really care about cosmetic repairs. The wallpaper was partially torn in places all over the place. It didn’t look nice. There were spider webs hanging in every corner. Unfortunately, the outdoor terrace was heavily soiled by the ducks running around. Some of the bedding wasn’t properly clean and had holes in it. The smaller houses are very noisy. Unfortunately, the bushes were already growing into the bedroom, so you could see them inside the room when you opened the windows all the way.
On the plus side, the beds are very comfortable, and you can get to the other towns relatively quickly by car. The park is very quiet outside of the vacation season—a good place to relax.
