A day trip to the south

Take a trip south and visit cozy Flemish cities. A 40-minute drive away is Bruges. Stroll through the historic city center, head to one of the 50 chocolatiers and taste a Brugse Zot. Rent a SUP to get into the water, go kayaking in the surf, or book a lesson in wave surfing. Don't want to get in the water, but want to do something adventurous on the beach? Then let yourself be pulled by the wind while blokarting or try to control a kite during an afternoon of power kiting. You can also participate in various beach sports such as beach golf, ditch shooting and beach lacrosse. There is something for everyone!

Bird watching in Het Zwin nature reserve

Less than half an hour's drive from the glamping is Het Zwin nature park. This green area is no less than 155 acres and attracts many birds and other animals in addition to people. As you walk through nature you will come across nesting storks, geese and ducks. Before your walk, head toward the center building, where they'll give you all the info you need about the area's nature and wildlife.

A day at the museum

Want to learn more about fishing, marine animals and birds? Then drive 15 minutes to the Fisheries Museum in Breskens. From utensils to fossils and a sea aquarium, through various objects and stories you will dive into the fishing and animal world here. Try tying a fisherman's knot yourself or watch a fisherman make a fishing net.

    Fine family stay within walking distance of the beach. We stayed with our family in the Zonneweelde Lodge (6 people) and had a great time. On arrival we were kindly received by the reception staff, who helped us well with all the information we needed. The lodge itself was nicely cared for and completely furnished. Bedding and towels were ready, and as a nice surprise there was coffee, tea and a pack of cookies for us. The kitchen was fully equipped: a Dolce Gusto coffee maker, dishwasher and a good refrigerator. Even a washing machine was available, which is very convenient for longer stays. The heating worked excellently, and the TV had many channels with good viewing options - ideal for relaxing evenings. It was nice that we didn't have to think about anything - everything was there to enjoy our stay right away. For families with children, this is a really nice place. The indoor playground was perfect during the lesser weather days in the fall, so the kids had a great time inside as well. The beach is within walking distance (about 15-20 minutes), perfect for a refreshing walk on the beach. The location is also convenient for fun trips in the area. Het Zwin (both the Dutch and Belgian sides) is beautiful to visit, and a day in Vlissingen is definitely worthwhile. So plenty to do, even out of season. At the park itself you will find all practical amenities: a supermarket, a store with various items, and several eateries. At the park there is an Italian restaurant (Piazza Nieuwvliet) where you can sit inside as well as outside, and there is a takeaway for pizza. A little more variety in the catering on the park itself would be nice, but you'll find plenty of other restaurants in the immediate area. All in all, a beautiful and well-maintained park where you can enjoy peace and quiet as a family. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay in Zeeland!

    Fijn familieverblijf op loopafstand van het strand. We verbleven met ons gezin in de Zonneweelde Lodge (6 personen) en hebben een fijne tijd gehad. Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen door het receptiepersoneel, dat ons goed hielp met alle informatie die we nodig hadden. De lodge zelf was keurig verzorgd en compleet ingericht. Beddengoed en handdoeken lagen klaar, en als leuke verrassing stonden er koffie, thee en een pak koekjes voor ons. De keuken was van alle gemakken voorzien: een Dolce Gusto koffieapparaat, vaatwasser en een goede koelkast. Zelfs een wasmachine was aanwezig, wat erg handig is voor een langer verblijf. De verwarming werkte uitstekend, en de TV had veel zenders met goede terugkijkmogelijkheden - ideaal voor ontspannen avonden. Het was prettig dat we aan niets hoefden te denken - alles was aanwezig om direct te kunnen genieten van ons verblijf. Voor gezinnen met kinderen is dit echt een fijne plek. De binnenspeeltuin was perfect tijdens de mindere weerdagen in de herfst, zodat de kinderen zich ook binnen goed konden vermaken. Het strand ligt op loopafstand (ongeveer 15-20 minuten), ideaal voor een frisse strandwandeling. De ligging is ook gunstig voor leuke uitstapjes in de omgeving. Het Zwin (zowel de Nederlandse als Belgische kant) is mooi om te bezoeken, en een dagje Vlissingen is zeker de moeite waard. Genoeg te doen dus, ook buiten het seizoen. Op het park zelf vind je alle praktische voorzieningen: een supermarkt, een winkeltje met diverse artikelen, en verschillende eetgelegenheden. Op het park is een Italiaans restaurant (Piazza Nieuwvliet) waar je zowel binnen als buiten kunt zitten, en er is een afhaalballetje voor pizza’s. Iets meer variatie in de horeca op het park zelf zou wel prettig zijn, maar in de directe omgeving vind je genoeg andere restaurants. Al met al een mooi en goed onderhouden park waar je als gezin rustig kunt genieten. Een aanrader voor een ontspannen verblijf in Zeeland!

    Booked 2 nights last-minute to go hiking and get a breath of fresh air by the sea. Nice cozy dune lodge with all the necessary comfort + an extra sauna room outside. Only the 3rd bedroom with bunk bed is on the small side.
