Discover the nature of Oosterschelde National Park
Want to experience Zeeland’s nature up close? Explore Oosterschelde National Park, the largest and wettest national park in the Netherlands. This water-rich area is in open connection with the North Sea, causing mudflats and sandbanks to run dry at low tide and be underwater again at high tide. Walk or cycle along the dikes and enjoy wide views over the water. With a bit of luck, you may spot seals or porpoises along the way, because this is the right place for marine mammals. Spoonbills, cormorants, and wading birds also feel at home in this area, so there is always something to discover along the way. Take a good look at the shores and the water too, because you might encounter crabs, lobsters, and special shellfish. Bring your binoculars and discover just how impressive Zeeland on the water is.

Discover water, technology and history at Neeltje Jans
In the mood for a day full of water, technology and adventure? Visit Deltapark Neeltje Jans, where you can discover everything about the Delta Works, the North Sea Flood of 1953 and the impressive Oosterschelde storm surge barrier. During the Delta Experience, you will experience how a severe northwesterly storm and spring tide in 1953 flooded large parts of Zeeland, South Holland and West Brabant. See the storm surge barrier up close and learn how Zeeland then began to better protect itself from the sea. There is also plenty to do for families, with water attractions, playgrounds and the Bluereef Aquarium. The park is located in the middle of Oosterschelde National Park, where nature, water and technology come together beautifully. Make it an educational and active day out and experience for yourself how powerful the water in Zeeland is.
