Huttopia markets itself as a dream world of adventure, but a look behind the scenes reveals exactly the opposite. Sure, the location is fantastic. The concept and setup are creative—they’re selling us a large “luxury tent camp” here, for which they charge hefty prices. We’ve been traveling through Europe for three months every summer for many … years and know many campgrounds (though Huttopia isn’t one in the traditional sense—it’s more like a tent hotel). My conclusion: I’ve never experienced a facility that’s both so beautiful and so run-down at the same time. I’m talking about maintenance and cleanliness. It felt like the tents hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in weeks, and the restrooms are in a miserable state of hygiene! I took a good look at the whole place and realized: No, it’s NOT the team’s fault. On the contrary: there’s a great team working here. It’s because the team is severely understaffed. ONE cleaning staff member for 70 tents and the entire facility. It’s even gotten to the point where the manager is helping with the cleaning. My on-site research (conversations) confirmed that the team is completely overworked and no additional staff is being provided. The facility is slowly falling into disrepair: The door to the community hall is still waiting in vain to be repaired, the landscaped area at the edge of the campground is slowly becoming overgrown, the grass is running wild in the reception area, and the solar lamps throughout the campground are gathering dust (I could list even more examples)... Huttopia, at the location we visited, turns out to be a ruthlessly profit-driven business model that exploits its employees and even sells the whole thing to its guests as a feel-good story (signs by the showers list how little water is used per week—which makes you feel like a do-gooder, but in reality, they’re cutting costs ruthlessly). Just for comparison: The nearby pizzeria had 12 people there in the evening (as far as I could see). I counted 6 or 7 at the Huttopia campground. We’re now at an Orbitur—everything’s clean, everything’s fine. You can see plenty of staff. To the Huttopia management: Shame on you! You have a gem of a place, you have a great team, but you’re letting them get bogged down in their work. And on top of that, you’re charging your guests an arm and a leg. I’ve heard several guests who noticed all of this just as I did. It would be good if they spoke up here too, so that SOMETHING GETS DONE!! I’m curious to see if there’s still a spark of hope and integrity left at Huttopia!

Man sieht genügend Mitarbeiter.

Please note that the Huttopia campground—contrary to its name—is not a campground but an outdoor lodging facility, so you can’t pitch a tent there... We found this out the hard way after biking more than 50 km. Other than that, the staff is professional.

Beautiful safari tent at a very quiet campground. Great food truck and drinks, nice pool, and fun and unique activities for the kids led by the entertainment coordinator. There’s plenty to do in the area, but just hanging out at the campground is also very relaxing.
Beautiful lagoon, and the ocean and panoramic views are within walking distance.this is a translation, click here for the original

A beautiful spot near the Atlantic Ocean. The cabins are very cozy and offer good amenities, including a small kitchen, a gas grill, and a stove. The shower and toilet are clean. The front desk sells bread rolls, which you can order the day before, and the coffee is delicious, too. It’s a 200-meter walk to the lagoon. The water is very shallow, … though, and full of crabs. In my opinion, it’s not really suitable for swimming, but it’s still beautiful. By car, at least four beaches are just 5 to 10 minutes away. There’s also a pool...
