Here’s what we wrote in June 2023: This campground has everything we could want: PEACE AND QUIET + nature, spacious sites, clean restrooms, and a bread delivery service. And more perks: good free Wi-Fi, plenty of toilet paper and even soap, a food truck with snacks, drinks, ice cream, and pastries. The Lidl and the train to Trier are within walking distance. Enough to justify a longer stay than we’d originally planned.
We stayed here over the weekend of June 27–26. Unfortunately, Building 1 was “closed off” due to a dried-out tree, and the kitchen was shut. But the campground has improved overall, AND there are some nice restaurants open again within walking distance.

We stayed at this campground for three days and really enjoyed our time there. We chose this campground mainly because of its location—it’s close to Zoomarine—and I have to say it was an excellent choice.
The campground is very clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Our bungalow was spotless: I didn’t find a single bug, which I really appreciated. I was also pleased to find a bidet inside the bungalow—a convenience not always available at resorts.
Another positive aspect I noticed is definitely the fact that the bungalows aren’t all right next to each other, so there’s some privacy. It’s really nice that there’s space between the bungalows. The only minor drawback is that the mattress is a bit hard.
The prices at the bar are also reasonable and not excessive. Overall, it was a very positive experience: we were satisfied in every respect, and if I were to return to Rome, I would definitely choose this resort again.
Two small suggestions: since it’s a very large resort, I’d add a few more signs to better indicate the various areas (such as the bar), because I got lost once and had a bit of trouble finding my way around. Also, it would be helpful to increase the number of staff at the bar, especially in the evenings, when it gets busier and there are some wait times.
Other than that, it was a truly wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

The campground is an excellent, well-equipped, and pleasant place. The service from everyone there was great. 10 out of 10. I would definitely go back a thousand times.

This weekend I went to Ackersate with my caravan.
Nice place, quite a nice campground, but what really disappointed me was the distance from my caravan to the restroom building; there are also far too few restrooms.
But what I actually find outrageous is that you couldn’t empty the portable toilet because the emptying station was temporarily out of service.
How is this possible???? At a 5-star campground????
No, definitely not worth 5 stars in my book.

I didn't like it at all—the bathrooms were dirty, the wooden cabins were the same, everything was pretty dirty, and the tents at the campground were terrible. The sheets were covered in hair, and there were cobwebs everywhere; the rooms smelled awful. It was unbearably hot because they only gave you a small fan.

We were really looking forward to a fun weekend getaway, but unfortunately it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

On the way there, we called Ella, the farm owner, to ask if we could store our refrigerated items somewhere in advance, since it was 35 degrees that day. We were told that the tent was already set up, so this wouldn’t be a problem. Upon arrival, however, the atmosphere changed immediately. Suddenly, we were told that we had to pay €50 for this, because according to her records, we had previously been contacted about checking in early (there had never been any contact about this). She also suggested that we were deliberately trying to take advantage of a longer stay, when all we wanted to do was keep our meat cool because we were planning to spend the afternoon at the beach first.

No matter how we tried to explain the situation, she wouldn’t listen. We were confronted with assumptions and accusations that felt completely unjustified and unfair. The way we were spoken to was anything but hospitable, respectful, or customer-friendly. This was especially painful in the presence of our two young children, who had been so looking forward to this weekend. In the end, it wasn’t even about the €50—it was about the way we were treated as guests.

After this unpleasant reception, we still went to the beach, with the meat in our bag. We hoped the situation would be resolved later, that at least an apology would follow. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Farmer Ella, as well as farmer Jan, remained extremely unfriendly in their interactions—not only toward us but also toward other visitors.

What also shocked us immensely was the impression we got regarding the animals’ welfare. In our opinion, their care left a lot to be desired. During a weekend when the temperature soared well above 35 degrees, we saw hardly any water sources, the enclosures looked dirty, and we found the pens to be small and inadequately maintained. That made us feel uneasy and kept weighing on our minds the entire time.

The activities offered at this petting farm were also very disappointing. If there was an activity at all, it was very short. We had thought we’d be able to help out with the farmer’s daily life, as advertised on the website. Such a shame!

We therefore look back on this weekend with astonishment and a sense of unease. Due to the owner’s attitude, the unfounded accusations, and our concerns about animal welfare, this is absolutely not a place we’ll ever return to or recommend to others. What should have been a relaxing getaway ended up being an experience that was, above all, disappointing, unpleasant, and sad.

We will never return and recommend visiting one of the other FarmCamps instead.

A bit expensive

Beautiful campground on the Semois River, with spacious sites for your tent or RV...
We stayed in a large tent by the water; unfortunately, we were in direct sunlight during the heat wave, but we were able to cool off in the two swimming pools on site, which were clean and well-maintained.
The cafeteria is nice but has very limited drink options, and there’s no option to eat there—fresh pizza is only available on Fridays and Saturdays. You can also order bread and rolls for the morning.
Very nice and, above all, clean and well-maintained restroom facilities that are cleaned several times a day.
