General information
Looking for a relaxed nature break in Belgian Limburg? Het Hertenbos is a cosy 2-bedroom chalet in Lanklaar, ideal for a small family or a group of up to 4 people. With a fully fenced garden, terrace and swing set, it’s a great choice if you’re travelling with kids – and your dog is welcome too.
Inside, you’ll find a warm and inviting living room with a gas stove, satellite TV and radio. After a day outside, curl up on the sofa with a drink and enjoy a quiet evening together. The compact kitchen has everything you need for simple meals: a 4-ring cooker, microwave and filter coffee machine for your morning brew.
The chalet has one double bedroom and a bedroom with a bunk bed – perfect for children. There’s a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet with washbasin, which makes mornings a little easier when you’re staying with the whole family.
Outside is where Het Hertenbos really shines. The fenced garden and terrace with garden furniture invite you to eat, play and relax in the fresh air, while the swing set keeps younger guests entertained. Free parking is available at the property, so you can arrive and unload without any hassle.
Nature lovers are in the right place here. The beautiful Mechelse Heide forest is only about 4 km away – ideal for walks, bike rides or a stroll with the dog. Fancy a bit of shopping or a day out? The popular Maasmechelen Village outlet and a lake for water-based activities are both within easy reach. Restaurants can be found around 1 km from the chalet, while the nearest centre and shops are about 5 km away.
Before arrival, you can choose an optional utilities & service package of EUR 50. This covers things like final cleaning, utility use, service support and protection against minor damages, so your stay is even more carefree. Prefer to arrange it yourself? That’s fine too, as long as you leave the chalet in good condition at check-out.
Whether you’re planning a quiet family break, a walking holiday with your dog or a weekend of shopping and exploring Limburg, Het Hertenbos offers a comfortable, down-to-earth base in a peaceful setting.

Beautiful surroundings! The cottage is really in the middle of the woods with nice hiking trails starting at the door. For those who love peace and nature really a must!!! Even with 2 young children there is more than enough to do in the area.

Quiet, secluded cottage in the woods. Super if you want to get away from all the crowds. Basic furnished, no luxury, but enough to make your own food. Upon arrival the cottage smelled a bit of dampness, but upon airing it was better. Not large, but ok for 2 adults and 1 child. Beautiful region and nice to make miner's house, mines, Zutendaal, forest walks and bike rides.
