Fun seaside resorts and cities

From this glamping site, you will be in cozy seaside resorts or fun Belgian cities like Bruges and Ghent in no time. Ghent is a 55-minute drive away. Take a boat trip on the canals and walk through the historic center. A little closer is Bruges. After less than 45 minutes' drive you are in the center. Find a place on the terrace for a Belgian beer, score delicious chocolate, and feast your eyes on the beautiful streets. Want to go to a seaside resort? Ostend can be reached within half an hour, and De Panne within 20 minutes. Both cities are great options for anyone who wants to store, walk along the coast or look for a restaurant for lunch or dinner!

The West Coast Walking Network

Compass Camping Nieuwpoort is surrounded by hiking trails, namely the trails of Wandelnetwerk Westkust. This network consists of 160 km of traffic-free and unpaved trails. Start at the glamping near the Belgian coast and follow different routes through the polders, dunes, and forests in the area. It is also fun to take a city walk through Nieuwpoort. This way you combine an active day directly with a nice outing to the city, where you make stops at nice stores, and cozy squares and where you also encounter good restaurants for a delicious lunch or drinks. Then you continue walking through beautiful nature again, along the coast and end in the lodges at the glamping.

Water sports at Spaarbekken

Next to the glamping is Spaarbekken, an 18-acre body of water. The ideal place for water sports. You can surf, sail and kayak there. Do you prefer to throw out a fishing rod? The Spaarbekken is also a good location for anglers! Around the water, you will find several water sports clubs and complexes where you can go to book a lesson or rent materials to go on and in the water yourself.

Meet Gnome Plop and ride roller coasters

Take the kids out for a day of adventure at Bellewaerde Amusement Park. After 3 quarters of an hour's drive, you can step into fast roller coasters, merry-go-rounds, and watch special 4D movies. There is plenty to do! A little closer is Plopsaland De Panne, which is a 20-minute drive away. There are 40 attractions related to famous characters such as Gnome Plop and Mega Mindy. Meet your favorite characters and get on exciting roller coasters!

    Ik heb bij Kompas Camping gewerkt, maar mijn ervaring als werknemer was erg teleurstellend. Na weken hard werken en mijn best doen, kreeg ik plots via e-mail te horen dat ik “niet meer nodig was” omdat het zogezegd kalm laagseizoen was. Geen persoonlijk gesprek, geen uitleg, niets gewoon een korte mail. Ik vind het erg respectloos om mensen op zo’n manier te behandelen. Er werd niet gekeken naar inzet of prestaties, enkel naar gemak. Het voelde alsof je zomaar vervangbaar bent, zonder enig begrip of menselijkheid. Als werkgever laat Kompas Camping hiermee echt zien hoe weinig ze geven om hun personeel. Ontslag via mail, zonder eerlijk gesprek of waardering, vind ik allesbehalve professioneel. Ik zou Kompas Camping daarom niet aanraden aan wie op zoek is naar een fatsoenlijke en respectvolle werkervaring.

    Wij staan er met de camper buiten het hoog seizoen vaak recht tegenover het ijzerbekken. Niet op een grasveld maar het asfalt. Klinkt niet gezellig maar het is wel praktisch. Door de helling hoef je zelfs geen oprijblokken te gebruiken. Prachtig zicht, nabije afstand van sanitair blok, rustige bezetting op de camping. Enkel de hoge prijs voor een voorkeurplaats is een jammerlijk minpunt, zeker als je er maar 2 nachten kunt staan tijdens weekends. De nabijheid van Nieuwpoort Bad en Stad is echt een sterke troef

    Helaas weinig natuur tegenover vroeger, op de kasten hingen nog doodgemepte muggen en je zit bij de stacaravans omringt door echt huizen waardoor je eerder in een woonwijk zat dan in een camping. Helaas waren de speeltoestellen op de speeltuin zodanig verroest dat ze moeilijk bewogen en waren er een aantal stuk. Verder wel oke.
