The campsite offers a prime location directly on an expansive sandy beach with private access, ideal for beach lovers and dog owners. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and the modern, well-maintained sanitary facilities that are cleaned multiple times daily. The covered swimming pool, restaurant, and spacious pitches separated by hedges contribute to a pleasant experience, although some guests find the pitches rather small and the prices high. The campsite is within walking distance of the charming Merville-Franceville-Plage and serves as an excellent base for exploring the Normandy coast and D-Day landing beaches.

Two expensive weeks that were, in parts, a sound-and-light torture. Be very careful if you book online: I asked in advance to choose a pitch and my messages were simply ignored, so we ended up with one of the worst on the site: stony, on a steep slope, and with a motion-sensor light aimed directly at the only level patch of ground, which is of course where the sleeping area of our tent had to go. Every time someone walked past at night (which happened quite often), the tent lit up like a stage. Reception was unfriendly when we raised it and offered neither help nor an alternative pitch.

On top of that came the noise: on more than half of our fourteen nights, groups of teenagers were drinking and shouting until at least 1 a.m., sometimes until 4 a.m. They gathered at the playground and around the sanitary block. Both were unfortunately right next to our pitch (no. 75). Asking them to move to the beach or quieten down changed nothing, and the campsite clearly does nothing either. On a well-run site, that kind of repeated behaviour would get people asked to leave.

The sanitary facilities were a chapter of their own. There are no cold showers, only a preset warm temperature, which is not what I personally prefer after a day in the sun (there was no shade on our pitch, as on most of the pitches). Several times we found human feces on the floor around the toilets; that's on other guests rather than the cleaning staff, who worked hard and came through several times a day, and it may well be a high-season problem. The block doors lock automatically at night, and at one of the blocks the button that opens the door from the inside is unmarked. At around 3 a.m. one night we had to let out a woman who was hammering on the door and shouting in panic because she couldn't find it. That is a safety issue and needs a sign, at minimum.

The campsite is absolutely not recommended for tents. Most pitches simply aren't suitable, and there's no guarantee you'll get one of the few that are. Maybe we were even lucky with our mixture of sand, dust, dirt and small but sharp stones. Some pitches looked properly rocky. And despite carefully clearing away dozens of small stones and branches, we now have several tiny holes in the tent floor.

If you go there anyway with a tent, insist on a pitch as far from the sanitary block and playground as possible, avoid high season, and bring a small tent. Ours was too big, which left us no choice about how to position it on the pitch.

To be fair, the location is good, the beach is beautiful, there's an indoor pool, a well-equipped and well-maintained playground, and our child really enjoyed the pony riding. But for the price, two weeks of broken sleep isn't what we expected when we booked a presumably relaxing "slow life" stay.

A beautifully located campground with direct access to the beach. The campsites are quite tight. The restrooms are very well maintained. Great playground, pool, and friendly staff.

Go ahead—you can’t go wrong! Our stay was nothing but positive. The welcome is warm, and the common areas are in excellent condition and clean. The campground has a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for families.
The best review of all will be my little one’s: “Daddy, I want to stay here forever.”

We stayed here for one night and had a good experience. We arrived without a reservation during the peak season, and even though the campsite was very busy, the friendly staff at the reception still found a small space for our tent near the washrooms.

The campsite is in a great location right by the sea and also has a swimming pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the helpful staff.
