The nearest village of Les Eyzies is 2 km from the campground and is famous for its many caves with prehistoric wall paintings. In the center of the village is an old fortress built against the rock face. Inside you will find the museum of prehistory. Besides history, Les Eyzies has many nice restaurants and stores. In high season there are village festivals with music, good food and, of course, wine.

Discover the prehistoric caves
Les Eyzies-de-Tayac is also considered the capital of prehistory. The caves with murals tell you stories about the way of life at that time. Nearby you will find several caves with murals such as the Font de Gaume (3 km), Cap Blanc (5 km) and cave du Sorcier (8 km). There are also caves with beautiful drop formations such as the Grand Roc (3 km), Gouffre de Proumeyssac (13 km) and Grotte de Maxange (22 km). A little further, 25 km from the campsite, is La Roque-Gageac. This is one of the most beautiful villages in France built on a cliff. The village is known for medieval and renaissance architecture. Be sure to visit the gardens of Marqueyssac with its cliffs and panoramic view of the river.

We had a very nice secluded pitch with private sanitary. Beautiful nature, it almost feels like you are camping off-grid. Service was mostly self service because of low season, but the restaurant was still open every other day. Self service means you can grab your own drinks (including drafting your own beers) and write down what you took so they can add it to the bill later. The food in the restaurant was menu du jour, we ate there twice and both times were very good.

Très beau camping. Très propre. Personnel agréable. Cependant en fin de saison ( semaine du 23 au 30 août, il manquait d'animations pour les enfants ). Voir pas du tout. Si vous voulez un camping calme et relax, ce camping est pour vous !
