A relaxing place to stay at the end of summer. The campsites are fairly large and quiet.
    I recommend it.

A campground equipped with every amenity. There are even pre-pitched tents equipped with a wood-burning stove, a bathroom, and running water. The bathrooms and showers are always clean, and there’s plenty of hot water. The pool is heated. The staff was truly fantastic. They even helped us inflate a flat tire...

I was disappointed. It wasn't good value for the price. The restrooms were far from the campsites. And the owner wasn't very welcoming.

⚠️ BE AWARE BEFORE BOOKING — many things are NOT included

We booked a chalet at Huttopia La Clarée through Booking.com for approximately €230 per night / €460 for two nights. The Vallée de la Clarée is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately the accommodation was a huge disappointment and there are several things we really wish had been made clearer before making a non-refundable booking.

First: bed linen is NOT included. It costs an additional €17 per bed, and even after paying for it, the beds are not made — you simply receive the linen and have to make them yourself.

Our chalet has a bunk bed, but using it therefore meant paying another €17 just for the linen. We decided not to, so my brother and I are now sharing a 140 cm bed.

Towels are also not included. There is no shampoo or other basic toiletries.

The kitchen situation was equally surprising. We were given literally the bottom of an almost-empty bottle of dish soap and no sponge. When we asked for more dish soap, we had to negotiate before eventually receiving some.

Then comes the cleaning: you are expected to clean the chalet yourself before departure or pay an additional €60.

This honestly also makes us question how consistent the cleaning standard can be between guests. If cleaning depends on the previous guests doing it themselves, how is the same level of cleanliness guaranteed for every arrival? Especially when proper cleaning products aren't even provided in the chalet. We are expected to clean it, but apparently also expected to each time go to the reception to yet again ask for something "that wasn't included".

Even toilet paper became a discussion. We are four people staying for two nights and initially received one roll. We had to insist to get a second one.

Another important restriction to know about: you cannot leave the campsite by car before 7:00 AM. Something worth considering if you're coming to the area to hike early, have a long journey home or simply need an early departure.

Whenever we questioned any of this, the recurring explanation was essentially “it is a camping.”

But we didn't book a bare camping pitch. We booked a chalet for €230 per night.

Of course we don't expect the services of a five-star hotel at a campsite. But at this price point, there are plenty of chalets, holiday apartments, Airbnbs and other self-catering accommodations where linen and towels are provided, beds are ready on arrival and guests aren't expected to clean the entire accommodation themselves or pay another €60.

Calling it “a camping” shouldn't simply excuse every missing basic or additional charge. A chalet is precisely the more comfortable accommodation option within a campsite, and we think it's reasonable to compare the experience with other holiday rentals at a similar price.

Most importantly, all of this needs to be extremely clear BEFORE someone commits to a non-refundable €460 reservation, not communicated in detailed conditions afterwards.

So, if you are considering booking, be aware of what you're actually getting for the advertised price:

    • €17 extra per bed for linen
    • Beds are not made
    • Towels are not included
    • No shampoo/basic toiletries
    • Barely any dish soap and no sponge
    • Clean the chalet yourself or pay €60 extra
    • No proper cleaning products provided despite guests being expected to clean
    • Very limited toilet paper
    • No leaving the campsite by car before 7:00 AM

For almost €460 for two nights, we would absolutely recommend comparing other accommodation options in the area before booking. We are confident you can find places offering a much more complete experience for this price.

Beautiful location, but unfortunately the accommodation, transparency and service did not come close to what we expected for the amount we paid.
