The campsite enjoys a stunning location on the crystal-clear Lac de Serre-Ponçon with spectacular views of the lake and mountains. Guests appreciate the direct water access, spacious pitches, and friendly staff. The central plaza with bar and pizzeria creates a relaxed atmosphere. Areas for improvement include the sanitary facilities which are often too small and insufficiently clean, lack of hot water, poor road conditions with potholes, and sewage odors in certain locations. High prices, limited activities, and the absence of bins throughout the site are also frequently mentioned as drawbacks.

Beautiful region:
. The campground's hospitality leaves much to be desired—not at all welcoming:
. The place wasn't cleaned:
. It's noisy at night because of the little "bugs" living in the walls of the mobile home.this is a translation, click here for the original

We stayed in a Montana cabin located on the hillside above the campground. So, yes, you have to walk a bit to get to the heart of the campground, but the best part is that we enjoyed plenty of peace and quiet. The staff is very friendly, and the items offered at the café counter are of very high quality. We recommend this campground 😉

We stayed at the Huttopia Campground on Lake Serre-Ponçon. The natural surroundings are magnificent—we’re right on the lake; nature is so beautiful. At the front desk, they explained where we were, adding, “You’re not far away—you even have a ‘private beach.’” Presented that way at the front desk, it sounds like a dream. But then we discovered … that the campground is divided into two sections and that we were at the most remote site of all—you practically have to go on a hike to get to the restrooms. As for the “private beach”: it’s just mud—no one swims there—and the spot is very windy. Yet they keep offering these spots to tent campers, even though several of us had our tents blown over by the wind and had to go find rocks to prop them up. Only RVs, vans, etc., should be allowed there—there are no trees, so it’s scorching hot. At this campground, it’s a mixed bag: either you’re lucky enough to have a spot in the shade, close to the restrooms and all the amenities—and I think everything goes smoothly—or, like us, you’re on the outskirts—you don’t even have drinking water nearby—or you’re in the heart of the campground, which looked like a camp where everyone is crammed together with no shade; it wasn’t very inviting. Otherwise, there were a few lucky ones who, I think, had a pleasant stay. Our restrooms were small and disgusting (3 toilets, 4 showers), clogged for several days—every morning, everyone stares at you as you climb, climb just to use the restroom. There are sewer smells throughout the day, a charming lady offering massages accompanied by a dog, and when you tell her that one morning at 6 a.m. her dog chased you—and that you were scared, you just wanted to go to the bathroom— her responses are out of this world—no witty comeback, well, maybe the best one: “When I’m asleep, I don’t know what my dog is doing,” and also, “Oh, but my dog protects me,” hahaha. Around her tent there are stones inscribed with “peace, love…” And then, when you end up cutting your stay short because of the weather and say you didn’t like your campsite, the only response a young woman at the front desk gives you is: “Well, everyone has their own tastes…” A lack of professionalism at every level. The only thing that saves the whole experience is nature, because the location is incredible. We naively thought that all Huttopia sites were top-notch, but that’s definitely not the case!!

We tried our first HUTTOPIA experience at Lake Serre Ponçon, and it definitely won't be our last! We LOVED everything! The location is stunning, and the accommodation (the Massai tent) was superb, with a breathtaking view of the lake. It was a real change of scenery that already has us wanting to go back and try another Huttopia campground! I highly recommend it, especially with kids!
