Whoever said camping had to mean “back to basics” clearly never spent the night in a lodge. Imagine waking up in a cosy bed, birds chirping outside your window, your own private bathroom just a few steps away (yes, really!), and a fresh cup of coffee ready to greet you. Lodges in the Netherlands are perfect for anyone who loves being in nature but also values things like, well… a real mattress and walls that don’t require any tent poles.
Whether you’re a seasoned glamper, a nervous first-timer, or someone who just can’t deal with sleeping on an air mattress ever again (no judgement here), a lodge holiday brings together the best of comfort and adventure. Because let’s face it: getting muddy is way more fun when you know there’s a hot shower waiting for you afterwards.
The Netherlands isn’t just windmills and stroopwafels (although, honestly, those are reason enough to visit). Each region has its own charm and offers lodges in beautiful locations—making it easy to find your little slice of paradise.
Love lush forests, vast heaths, and the occasional friendly squirrel? Gelderland and Overijssel are your spots. Think long walks, bike rides, and plenty of nature. After all that exploring, retreat to your stylish lodge where your only dilemma is whether to relax inside or enjoy the sunset from your porch.
Slightly warmer vibes, rolling hills, and a (very friendly) southern spirit—that’s Limburg and North Brabant for you. Here, the lodges are nestled between fields and forests, perfect for foodies, culture-lovers, and those who like the idea of slowing down. End your day with a local delicacy or simply chill in comfort, all while nature hums quietly around you.
For travellers seeking wide horizons and a bit of tranquillity: Drenthe and Flevoland are a match made in glamping heaven. Historic landscapes, serene lakes, and just enough seclusion to finally finish that book… or that nap you’ve been dreaming of. Lodges here place you right at the heart of the action—or, let’s be honest, the inaction.
Let’s break up with old-school camping clichés. When you stay in a lodge, you get the joy of outdoor living, minus any hassle. Most lodges offer comfy beds, private bathrooms, heating for those chillier nights, and sometimes even a fully equipped kitchen. No need to wrestle with tent fabric or discover yet another mysterious camping bug in your sleeping bag.
Many Dutch lodges are right by beautiful trails, water, or family-friendly attractions. Some parks even have pools, playgrounds and restaurants, making life just that little bit easier—especially for families or groups. The only thing you’ll have to build is your own adventure.
There’s a lodge in the Netherlands for every type of holidaymaker. Prefer nature, luxury, fun, or relaxation? Or maybe a bit of all four (no one’s judging). Need a weekend escape or a longer break with friends or family? The perfect spot is waiting for you—mattress included.
