General information

The chalet Meerkoet is a detached chalet of 37 m² and suitable for up to four people. The accommodation is situated by the water, is on one level, and has a practical layout with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living and dining room, an open kitchen, and a terrace.

There are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom is furnished with two single beds. Single duvets and pillows are provided. The bathroom has a shower cabin, toilet, and washbasin.

In the spacious living and dining room you will find a seating area, dining area, and TV with Chromecast. The accommodation has air conditioning and free WiFi.

The open kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, combination microwave, and coffee maker suitable for Nespresso capsules.

Outside, there is a garden around the chalet by the water. There is a terrace with hardwood garden furniture, and fishing is possible at the accommodation. From February through October, an electric sloop is included with the stay, moored at the private jetty.

Holiday park Giethoorn is car-free. The accommodations are surrounded by water and can only be reached via a steep pedestrian bridge. Parking is available in the central car park near Restaurant ’t Vonder, about 400 meters from the park. The accommodation is non-smoking. Pets are allowed.

    Great location with its own little boat, which did need repairs twice during our stay and was already “empty” when the gauge read 60%. The chalets are fully equipped, but there are a few flaws. The service is mediocre. During business hours, it’s not uncommon for the reception desk to be unattended. The phone number that’s supposed to be available … outside of business hours fails to answer your question 9 out of 10 times, leaving you stuck with the problem. All in all, we still had a pleasant stay thanks to the surroundings.

    Geweldige locatie met een eigen bootje, die wel 2x een reparatie nodig had tijdens ons verblijf en met 60% op de teller al 'leeg' was. De chalets zijn compleet, maar er zijn wel wat gebreken. De service is matig. Tijdens de openingstijden komt het regelmatig voor dat er niemand bij de receptie zit. Het telefoonnummer wat buiten de openingstijden bereikbaar zou moeten zijn geeft 9/10x geen antwoord op je vraag waardoor je met het probleem blijft zitten. Al met al toch een fijn verblijf gehad door de omgeving waarin je verblijft.

    Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing overall. We had expected much more and would not book this accommodation again.
    The parking lot is also quite far away—and when we arrived, there wasn’t a single handcart available in the parking lot to help us carry our luggage.
    Upon arrival, we first had to spend nearly two hours cleaning the … cottage ourselves.
    After the hedges were trimmed, the clippings were simply left lying on the lawn for five days.
    Unfortunately, the house lacks adequate soundproofing and insulation. This made it uncomfortable, especially in warm weather and when there was noise from outside.

    For a two-week stay, there was only one trash bag and very little toilet paper.

    The lake is hardly suitable for swimming, as it is only about 1 m deep at most.
    The boat ride was the absolute highlight for us. Unfortunately, the peace on the water is repeatedly disturbed by locals who drive their loud diesel boats very close by at full throttle. The waves, the noise, and the exhaust fumes were quite unpleasant. The young guys, in particular, do it on purpose for fun.

    Our conclusion: The surroundings are beautiful, with wonderful bike trails; a boat ride might be worth it if it weren’t for the diesel boats—but we cannot recommend the accommodation itself. We definitely won’t be coming back. Anyone expecting a relaxing, clean, and well-organized vacation should look for something else.

    Leider war unser Aufenthalt insgesamt enttäuschend. Wir hatten uns deutlich mehr erwartet und würden diese Unterkunft nicht noch einmal buchen.
    Der Parkplatz ist zudem ziemlich weit entfernt – und als wir ankamen, war kein einziger Handwagen für den Gepäcktransport auf die Parkplatz verfügbar.
    Bei unserer Ankunft mussten wir das Häuschen zunächst fast 2 Stunden selbst putzen.
    Nach dem Heckenschnitt wurde das Schnittgut 5 Tagelang einfach auf der Rasenfläche liegen gelassen.
    Das Haus verfügt leider über keinen ausreichenden Schall- und Wärmeschutz. Dadurch war es insbesondere bei warmem Wetter und bei Lärm von außen unangenehm.

    Für einen Aufenthalt von zwei Wochen gab es nur einen Müllbeutel und sehr wenig Toilettenpapier.

    Der See ist zum richtigen Schwimmen kaum geeignet, da er höchstens etwa 1 m tief ist.
    Die Bootsfahrt war für uns das absolute Highlight. Leider wird die Ruhe auf dem Wasser immer wieder von Einheimischen gestört, die mit ihren lauten Dieselbooten sehr nah und mit Vollgas vorbeifahren. Die Wellen, der Lärm und die Abgase waren ziemlich unangenehm. Besonders die Jungen machen das absichtlich Spaß.

    Unser Fazit: Die Umgebung ist schön, wunderschöne fahrrad Strecken, eine Bootsfahrt könnte sich lohnen wenn die Dieselbooten nicht da wäre – die Unterkunft selbst können wir jedoch nicht empfehlen. Wir kommen definitiv nicht wieder. Wer einen entspannten, sauberen und gut organisierten Urlaub erwartet, sollte sich lieber etwas anderes suchen.
