Surroundings

La Roche de Solutre

60 km from the campground is La Roche de Solutré. In the hilly landscape of the Mâconnais, its silhouette stands out against the vast vineyards. A footpath allows you to easily reach the top where a magnificent view of southern Burgundy and the mountains of the Beaujolais awaits you. Traces of human habitation dating back 57,000 years have also been found in Solutré.

Discover the history and gastronomy of Tournus

A few minutes from the campsite, on the banks of the Saône, the beautiful town of Tournus awaits you. The image of this charming town is marked by the towers of the imposing Saint-Philibert abbey church built in the 10th century. It is also considered a masterpiece of Romanesque art and the area around the church is considered the oldest and most beautiful part of the town. But that is not the only thing the city has to offer. In fact, it is also one of the best gastronomic destinations in Burgundy. It has several Michelin-starred restaurants and several other very good restaurants.

Cycling on the Voie Bleue along the Saône River

The Voie Bleue is a 700 km long bike path that runs from Luxembourg to Lyon, right through eastern France. The bike path runs along the Saône River, just a few hundred meters from the campsite. Via the Voie Bleue, you can easily reach Tournus or Chalon-sur-Saône, while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. And if you don't have your own bike, you can rent one at the campsite reception.

The Abbey of Cluny

The Abbey of Cluny in the heart of Burgundy is considered the jewel of medieval Christianity. Built in the 10th century, the abbey was the largest and most prestigious abbey in the Western world. With more than 1,000 priories across Europe under its control, it had considerable influence. Unfortunately, the Abbey of Cluny was badly damaged during the French Revolution, and did not survive. The remains are still impressive enough and worth a visit. There is a 3D digital rendering that shows a perfect reconstruction of what once was this colossal monument. The abbey is a 45-minute drive from the campground.

Het binnenbad was een fijn zwembad. Water op prima temperatuur. Winkeltje had de nodige boodschappen. Erg praktisch. Tent was super.
