Hiking and scrambling through the Vosges

The Vosges are a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. Vast forests, clear lakes, and mountain peaks offer endless opportunities to explore. Choose a peaceful walk through the woods or embark on an adventure on steeper trails where you’re even allowed to scramble. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views, wildflowers, and maybe even a deer darting between the trees. The landscape changes with each season, from fresh green in spring to gold and red in autumn. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or simply love being outdoors, the Vosges invite you to put on your hiking boots, take a deep breath, and immerse yourself in nature.

Admire the monkeys up close in Kintzheim

On the Monkey Mountain in Kintzheim, you walk through a beautiful nature reserve full of free-roaming Barbary macaques. These social and playful animals live here in a large, forested park where you can observe them up close as they climb, play, and groom each other. During your walk through the park, caretakers will provide interesting explanations and you’ll see how the animals live together in a natural environment. The Monkey Mountain is not only fun for children, but also for adults who are curious about animals and their behavior. The combination of nature, freedom, and observing these special animals makes a visit to Kintzheim a unique experience you won’t soon forget.

Lose yourself in colorful Colmar

Colmar is an enchanting town that feels like an open-air museum. With its colorful half-timbered houses, blooming window boxes, and winding streets, it's a place where you can wander endlessly. Visit 'Little Venice' for a boat trip along the canal, browse local boutiques, or sample Alsatian specialties on a terrace. The atmosphere is both romantic and lively, with a picturesque view on every corner. Colmar exudes history but is also surprisingly contemporary. The mix of culture, gastronomy, and charm makes it an ideal destination for a day trip or a longer discovery tour. Let yourself be swept away by the atmosphere of this French gem.

Get inspired at the Unterlinden Museum

In the heart of Colmar lies the impressive Unterlinden Museum, housed in a former medieval monastery. The building alone is worth a visit, but the art collection is at least as impressive. Here you'll find paintings, sculptures, and objects from antiquity to modern art. The highlight is the world-famous Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald: a powerful, intense work that leaves a deep impression. As you stroll through the serene monastery corridors, you get the feeling you've stepped outside of time. The museum offers not just art, but also peace, wonder, and inspiration. A must-see for lovers of culture, history, and beauty.
