Visiting Urk

The centuries-old fishing village of Urk is still full of character. It has a unique culture and history and is therefore definitely worth a visit. Enjoy a smoked IJsselmeer eel in the cozy harbor and a boat trip with an original fishing boat on the IJsselmeer should not be missed. Afterwards, stroll through the alleys or visit the lighthouse, monuments, and museum.

National Park Weerribben-Wieden

In the head of Overijssel, about 35 minutes away by car from glamping Eigen Wijze, you will find National Park the Weerribben-Wieden. There are several bicycle and hiking trails that take you through the beautiful peat landscape and along the wetlands. Rent a canoe or a whisper boat and discover the habitat of many birds, butterflies, mammals, and other species. Along the water, you will find many different types of mills, which had an important function in the reclamation. From a distance, you can already see the 90-year-old water tower in Sint-Jansklooster. And in the heart of the Weerribben is Blokzijl, a small picturesque village with cozy cafes and nice stores, which is definitely worth a visit.

In the beautiful monumental building of Restaurant de Boet, right on the harbor of Urk, you can do it all. On the second floor, you will find the lounge bar with a robust look that suits the former Zuiderzee Island. Here you can enjoy a good glass of wine or sip your cocktail while enjoying delicious tapas. Then sit at the table and let yourself be pampered by the culinary delights of the chef, who serves lots of fresh fish and seasonal products. Would you like to learn the tricks of the trade yourself? You can. Cooking workshops are organized where you will learn to prepare a delicious dish or full meal in an intimate setting.

Venture into the forest on the salty sea floor

The glamping in Flevoland is adjacent to the 1,200-acre Kuinderbos, the largest forest in the Northeast Polder where you can enjoy hiking. The forest is full of special plants, butterflies, birds of prey, and other animals. You can also encounter Welsh Ponies and Icelandic horses around Kuinderplas. There are plenty of activities organized. For example, the little ones can walk the gnome trail with a duffel bag and earn a gnome diploma.

    Wir sind jedes Jahr gerne bei Ihnen. Als Studentenreisegruppe ist es nicht unbedingt leicht jemanden zu finden, der uns Häuser anvertraut. Vielen Dank für das entgegengebrachte Vertrauen - wir hoffen wir haben Sie nicht enttäuscht! Gut gefallen hat uns außerdem, dass die Vermieter sehr hilfsbereit sind und jede Frage gerne beantworten!

    Das Haus mit Steeg am Wasser war für die Kinder super toll.Sie konnten Kanu fahren, schwimmen oder angeln. Die Anlage mit ihren Sportanlagen, Luftkissen usw. ist sowieso eine tolle Anlage, wo man sich austoben kann. Leider hatten wir Ameisen oder einige Silberfische im Haus. Die müsste man mal "jagen".

    Super mooie safaritent, lekker ruim en comfortabele bedden. Onze kinderen waren dol op de bedstede. Erg leuk dat iedereen van het park gebruik kon maken van de kano’s. Dit werd dan ook volop gedaan. Wij vonden het een top verblijf en zouden het iedereen kunnen aanraden.
