The park enjoys a beautiful location directly opposite the Hoge Veluwe National Park, highly appreciated by guests for hiking and cycling. The grounds are green and well-maintained with several playgrounds, indoor and outdoor pools, a restaurant, and bike rental. However, many guests report serious shortcomings in cleanliness: cobwebs, dust, dirty bathrooms, mould, and sometimes even pests. Additionally, numerous visitors complain about constant traffic noise from the nearby motorway and N311, which disrupts the peace and nature experience. Staff receive mixed reviews—some friendly and helpful, others disinterested or hard to reach.

    Poor value for money

    Unfortunately, our stay was quite disappointing. The cottage showed clear signs of wear and tear and wasn’t thoroughly clean everywhere. The couch, in particular, was very dirty, with several stained spots, making it practically too dirty to sit on.

    There were also rust stains visible in the shower. We couldn’t … use the fire pit outside because the bottom had completely caved in. Additionally, the TV by the bed didn’t work.

    We weren’t given a key to the shed because it belonged to the owner. As a result, we couldn’t retrieve the cushions from the lounge set and therefore couldn’t use the lounge set as intended.

    Furthermore, there was a strange, unpleasant odor in the cottage throughout our stay.

    Although the cottage is located in a wooded area, we found the immediate surroundings of the cottage to lack greenery. The grass around the cottage consisted mostly of sand, and there was little vegetation or screening. As a result, there was hardly any privacy, and we could look directly into other cottages from ours—and vice versa.

    All in all, we felt that the condition, cleanliness, maintenance, and privacy were not commensurate with the price we paid for the stay. We therefore found the value for money to be clearly subpar. For this price, we had expected a better-maintained, cleaner cottage and more privacy.

    Prijs-kwaliteitverhouding ondermaats

    Helaas viel ons verblijf behoorlijk tegen. Het huisje was duidelijk zichtbaar gebruikt en niet overal goed schoon. Vooral de bank was erg vies, met meerdere vieze plekken, waardoor deze eigenlijk te vies was om op te zitten.

    Ook in de douche waren roestvlekken zichtbaar. De vuurkorf buiten konden we niet gebruiken, omdat de bodem volledig verzakt was. Daarnaast werkte de tv bij het bed niet.

    Van de schuur kregen we geen sleutel, omdat deze van de eigenaar was. Hierdoor konden we de kussens van de loungeset niet pakken en dus geen gebruikmaken van de loungeset zoals bedoeld.

    Verder hing er gedurende ons verblijf een vreemde, onaangename geur in het huisje.

    Hoewel het huisje in een bosrijke omgeving ligt, vonden wij de directe omgeving van het huisje weinig groen. Het gras rondom het huisje bestond grotendeels uit zand en er was weinig begroeiing of afscherming. Hierdoor was er nauwelijks privacy en konden we vanuit het huisje rechtstreeks bij andere huisjes naar binnen kijken, en andersom.

    Al met al vonden wij de staat, hygiëne, het onderhoud en de privacy niet passen bij de prijs die we voor het verblijf hebben betaald. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding vonden wij dan ook duidelijk ondermaats. Voor deze prijs hadden we een beter onderhouden, schoner huisje en meer privacy verwacht.
