Small family campsite with personal attention. Not the most modern facilities, but beautifully situated and very nice team that makes you feel really welcome!

We have been visiting Huttopia sites across France and recently Holland for the past years and would normally recommend Huttopia to everyone. We were returning to Germany via Belgium from Brittany in France (also Huttopia) and decided to try out the new site here in Semois, looking forward to our riverside comfort pitch to take the pressure off on the long journey home. We had booked a late arrival and found the information taped to receptions door (as arranged as the reception closes at 6pm), we then found in the dark the pitch was already occupied and those occupants were already sleeping. We parked on another free pitch (also registered in the system as full and booked) and informed the reception the following morning at 8, were told that everything was correct and they would speak to the others during the day. I think this was all a system fault and nobody is managing the actual site unless there are complaints. Maybe here they are restricted by Belgian planning rules but here the standard Huttopia concept that works has been ignored, the toilet and shower blocks were new but badly designed and built, something that I can’t say about one other Huttopias. The main toilet block nearest to all the facilities had for the men, 4 toilets, 3 urinals in individual cubicles and three showers, this is just not enough, it was also highly frequented by the ladies, as there was no toilet roll constantly. This should be a flagship Huttopia, the location is fantastic and the river here is great for kayaking, swimming and SUP, they have a lot of work to do to get the site up to the standards expected by customers who have been to Huttopia elsewhere. Issues: Cleanliness in toilet and shower blocks. Cleanliness of pool and pool area. Slippery floor in the pool area (fixed with yellow signs!) Building works ongoing and workmen onsite. Unfinished surfaces, definitely not barrier free. No entry system, cars and campers can drive onsite at all hours, including unauthorized vehicles. I will look back here in the future and hope that the campsite receives better reviews in the next years, it really is a great location and if you look in the direction of the river it is rather quite idyllic!

Beautiful

What a fantastic experience for a family with young children! The whole picture is right here to experience a great vacation. The fenced area is a children's play paradise with lots of outdoor play opportunities but also in bad weather the children can have fun in the "Flemish barn". Because it is completely car-free and fenced, as a parent you can also enjoy the vacation and let your children play outside with peace of mind. Blessedly wake up with the morning sun and then enjoy the delicious fresh bread brought to your tent by Pascale. The glamping tents are equipped with every luxury, private bathroom, kitchen, ... The use of a BBQ and participating in the joint pizza evening and campfire moments are also highly recommended! In short, a wonderful vacation!

Lovely park Soof. We enjoyed it as a family with 2 small children. All kinds of activities available and fine communication through the app. Really recommend it.

A brilliant site from an amazing company.

Everything was perfect. The food, the drinks, the location and the staff. There were 14 of us. Everyone got the food at the same time. Price/quality was also perfect. In short: highly recommended.

Liked: We really enjoyed Camping Batenstein, the pitch was a great size and there was plenty of room between pitches so you didn't feel crowded. The facilities were really clean and the showers were amazing. Yes, you paid for a token but it was worth it for a decent shower where you didn't need to keep pressing a button. Didn't use the Wifi but it was a great 5g signal on the phone. We left our motorhome here and walked to the train station - an easy 15 min walk at most - and caught the train to Zaanse Schans, Amsterdam and Gouda. So much easier than worrying about parking etc. Trains were really frequent and nice and cool.

Liked: The campsite is located on the edge of a small village with a small cafe where you can get takeaway meals (we bought chips to go with our own-cooked meal) by the entrance. The camping zone (as opposed to the static caravans) is nicely shaded providing a wooded feel, backing on to farmland, well away from the quiet village road. There is a small supermarket in the village but we didn't require it. Facilities in the campsite were good - two maintained toilet blocks for the campers with hot showers (no tokens) and a typical small campsite shop selling necessities. An excellent children's playground. We were there for 2 nights on way back from our holiday in the Alps.
