The region around Neufchâteau is crisscrossed with cycling routes that take you past streams, through green valleys and over wooded hills. Rent a bike and follow one of the signposted routes that depart from the town. Along the way, enjoy quiet roads, beautiful views and the varied nature of the Ardennes. Thanks to the rolling hills, the area is challenging without the routes becoming too demanding. Pass small villages along the way and take a break on a cosy terrace for a drink or a regional dish.

About a ten-minute drive away is Lake Neufchâteau, a lovely destination for an active or relaxing day by the water. Take a refreshing dip, relax on the small beach, or rent a kayak or pedal boat to explore the lake from the water. It is also a great place for families, thanks to the playground and the spacious sunbathing meadows along the shore. In the mood for even more water fun? About a twenty-minute drive away you can reach the River Semois, where you can swim, canoe, or kayak among the green hills of the Ardennes. Along the river there are several quiet little beaches where you can enjoy the view and the natural swimming water. An ideal setting for lovers of water and nature.

About a half-hour drive away lies the impressive Bouillon Castle, one of Belgium's best-known medieval castles. The ancient fortress towers high above the Semois River and takes you back in time. Wander through the corridors, towers and courtyards and enjoy the beautiful views over Bouillon and the surrounding Ardennes. Spectacular birds of prey shows are regularly organized. Just over a half-hour drive away is Orval Abbey, world-famous for its Trappist beer and artisanal Orval cheese. Visit the museum, walk past the atmospheric ruins of the old abbey and discover everything about its rich history and centuries-old brewing tradition. In the abbey shop, you can of course take home a bottle of Orval or a piece of cheese as a tasty souvenir.
