French Jura Mountains

A great destination for outdoor enthusiasts, the Jura is known for its stunning natural attractions, including waterfalls, lakes and gorges. The Cascades du Hérisson is a popular destination, with a series of waterfalls cascading down more than 2.5 km. Lac de Vouglans is also a beautiful place, with a large lake where you can swim, boat and fish. Don't forget to discover the delicious local cuisine, too!

Musée Gustave Courbet

The Musée Gustave Courbet is dedicated to the life and work of French painter Gustave Courbet, and can be found in his hometown of Ornans, less than a kilometer from the campsite. The artist's former family home, which now houses the museum, was built in the 17th century and has been restored to reflect the period in which Courbet lived. In addition to paintings, the museum displays drawings, engravings and photographs by one of France's most influential artists. There are also temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and photography, events and educational programs. Also take a look at the surrounding countryside, which provided much of the inspiration for Courbet's landscape paintings.

It's a campsite which is pretty poor value for money. The caravans, campers, mobile homes and chalets are squeezed into every spare metre so it's claustrophobic, and the mobile home experience was poor. We paid extra for linens and they didn't even fit the bed, really low quality itchy stuff too. The mobile home was freezing, which is okay, but they had signs up to not use the heating for the 'environment' lol. The shower door didn't close, things were stained and broken, and it was NOT cheap to rent. The service is fine but it's not a small or family run site, there's a lot of temporary and part time staff from the looks of it. The nautical themed kids park was very cute though.

The campsite wants to be a 4 star campsite, the glossy presentation on the website raises expectations that are unfortunately not fulfilled on site. The campsite itself is older, which is clearly visible in the facilities, especially in the sanitary area. Everything necessary for campers is available. The operators want to give the campsite an alternative, green eco-image. They separate the garbage and put up lots of posters in many places encouraging people to save water etc. If you look at the details, you can see that many of the requirements have not been met and many things have not been thought through to the end. The location and the site are great as a starting point for various activities and for shopping in Ornans. Compared to the other campsites on La Loue, the price is 2-3 times higher. The pitches are available for caravans and motorhomes from 80 m² to around 120 m², and are all large enough. Water and electricity are not available at all pitches. Water taps are sometimes blocked by the permanent dwellings or are difficult to reach. The pitches all have a clay base, when it rains it quickly becomes muddy and the water cannot seep away. There are a few plots with split surfaces, which are better. Limited opening hours for registration and the small store, the restaurant was not yet open in the pre-season. You can order baked goods for the next morning until the evening. Changes, rebookings and extensions can be made without any complications. The sanitary facilities are older, depending on who has cleaned them, they are acceptable. They are cleaned once a day, not enough in our opinion. Unfortunately, some fellow campers have not internalized hygiene and cleanliness. Of the 5 toilets, 2 were closed, one of the remaining ones is a children's toilet. The toilets have no toilet seat. The showers work without coins, only with a push button, the temperature cannot be regulated, but is always warm enough and the men's showers have new shower heads. You can swim in the neighboring indoor/outdoor pool, which is included in the camping fee, but you should familiarize yourself with the opening times. A deposit of €100 is payable for the chip. A young team seems to be in charge of the campsite, and the craftsmanship is on a DIY level. The esoteric touch of the HP is represented on the campsite by various dream catchers. Conclusion: Best campsite in the area at a higher price with some abstruse features. The self-claim is not fulfilled. In our opinion, they could do more for the environment and be more consistent in many areas.

Place in front of children's playground Little peace and quiet Uninviting welcome on arrival No offer to reserve bread or rolls for the next morning After our walk Although we wanted to reserve bread for the next day, it was too late as we had to reserve before 6 p.m. What's more, when we arrived, we should have been given toilet paper what a surprise it was to go to the toilet without paper! On the other hand, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the restaurant. Patricia served us with kindness and goodwill,
