We spent a long Easter weekend at the Wilsumer Berge campsite. The arrival was a bit bumpy at first: the pitch assigned to us was in a really bad state - deep holes, tractor tracks, coarse gravel and almost exclusively sand instead of grass. After the rain, the whole thing was muddy and hardly usable. On the positive side, after a brief consultation at reception, we were given another pitch without any problems, which was really good. The service at the site was absolutely fine. However, I would like to deliberately focus on the points that were decisive for us - and unfortunately meant that we will not be returning. The biggest point of criticism is clearly the wash house in area D. We were told on arrival that it would be renovated and open the next day - it was actually open the same evening. That sounded good at first, but the disillusionment came immediately. The wash house looks like a simple container building - functional on paper, but in reality very loveless and a far cry from what you might expect at the prices being charged. The toilet situation was simply unacceptable: - The cisterns had far too little water - There was hardly any water after flushing - even after several minutes there was hardly any in the cistern - Accordingly, the toilets were often dirty, filled with waste and paper - The smell was therefore absolutely unpleasant In addition, water was constantly running from the urinal - which reinforced the impression that there was something technically wrong here. The showers were also not convincing: - Very low water pressure, you practically had to stand against the wall - Simple construction with no comfort (container construction with cheap plastic walls) - Clearly perceptible, extremely unpleasant odor (drain or similar) - Not heated, therefore very cold at outside temperatures below 10°C Cleanliness was a problem overall. A lot of dirt is carried in due to the sandy ground, but simple measures such as mats in the entrance area are missing. Soap and paper were sometimes not available or only sporadically replenished. Another annoyance: the disposal of the camping toilet. Although there is a large basin, there is no water to rinse the cassette. Wash your hands afterwards? Only in the wash house in the toilet area - and then often without soap. It is also noticeable that many of the activities on the course are quite expensive. Take mini golf, for example: €7 per person, even for small children. That quickly adds up for a family. The course is really nice - but still doesn't justify the price. The restaurant is also in the upper price range, with rather average quality. You shouldn't expect a cozy atmosphere here either. There was also a camera in the dining room, which I found annoying - for me, being filmed while eating just doesn't fit in with a place where you actually want to relax. To be fair, it has to be said: The staff are friendly and helpful throughout. And you can also see that a lot is being invested and built. However, there are currently a lot of building sites, which significantly reduces the relaxation factor - especially in combination with the high price of parking spaces. The bottom line for me is that the price-performance ratio is not right. A site close to nature is nice - but basic things like functioning, clean sanitary facilities are not negotiable for me. In this state, this is simply not acceptable from my point of view. We won't be coming back if the situation doesn't fundamentally improve.
