Beautiful place. Friendly staff. A word of advice: if you’re planning to come and rent a fridge in September, don’t rent one—the staff is stretched thin. We arrived on Friday afternoon and had to call to have it delivered; we got there around 5:30 p.m....and they delivered it after 7:40 p.m.
On Sunday, I sent a message at 4:40 p.m. to request pickup around 6:00 p.m. The pickup was completed after 8:00 p.m., following two calls to the front desk and another exchange at the information desk.
“Pickup” is a bit of a stretch because the girl was alone and couldn’t load it, so she checked it and left the cooler at the campsite.
I understand there’s a staff shortage, but at least give the girl in charge of the service a little leeway! You want to make money off the backs of your employees. If you want to keep the campground open in September and October with half the staff, well then just keep half the campground open, because it’s easy to turn a profit on the backs of employees who get one salary but have to do the work of four! P.S. To whoever manages the website: the deposit for the fridge is €100, not €50 as stated on the site—you’d better update that. Good luck to all the staff!!!

Quiet campsite and open-air hotel with a warm, dynamic welcome. New, modern, well-equipped, CLEAN bungalows and mobile homes. Beach on the banks of the Louet. Pleasant rates, for a great time with the family, lazing around... or at the snack bar (run by the same charming team). Numerous tourist attractions. Activities on offer: cycling 🚴 , archery 🏹 , swimming pool 🤽‍♂️ , kayaking 🛶 , mini farm 🦆🐑 🐐 🐴 , mini golf 🏌️ , ... I highly recommend this stage, (or even +).

We received a warm welcome at this well-located campground, but unfortunately, its cleanliness left much to be desired (strong, unpleasant urine odors on the site, which had clearly been used as a urinal by the neighbors, and dilapidated restrooms full of cobwebs). In addition, the rental bikes were in poor condition (we had to swap them out three times): faulty brakes, broken seats, or no lights. Too bad…

Very noisy at night; no security staff asking guests to keep the noise down. Since the campground advertises a quiet atmosphere and no Wi-Fi, this didn't meet my expectations. I could barely sleep. What a shame!
Otherwise, the campground is great for families, but because of the noise, we won't be coming back.

My in-laws have enjoyed coming here for 23 years. I myself have been here for the fourth time. It is a very beautiful, large campsite with lots of facilities. For me personally much too busy and massive, but you have to love it. For children a big paradise. The pools are crowded, but the beach is lovely and the restaurants are also very good. Patty's bar driving by on the beach is also really fantastic! Big minus point I found toilet building 1 (W1) outdated and not hygienic. Every day everything was simply hosed down with a garden hose, that could really be better for a 5 star campsite. A big plus is that toilet paper is always provided. Also, the children's activities, such as the bouncy castle park are extremely expensive. Given the already high prices of the campsite, they could have been more reasonable. And may they also really invest in benches for the parents at the children's activities here are now only plastic torn benches.

Our first impression on arrival was actually very positive. The staff at reception were extremely friendly and professional. Check-in was possible from 3:00 PM, and we arrived exactly at that time. We were informed that unfortunately our accommodation was not ready yet. As compensation, we received a voucher for a meal at the restaurant, a jar of locally produced jam, and a discount for another visit to the restaurant. That was a very kind gesture and initially made us feel very welcome.

Unfortunately, several things later significantly changed our overall impression.

I have the feeling that, due to the rush in preparing the accommodation — possibly also because of staff shortages — the cleaning was not done thoroughly enough. In the bathroom there was clearly visible mould, mildew and dirt around the shower area, the joints and the window. This was especially disappointing because we had chosen what was supposed to be a more premium type of accommodation. I have attached photos to this review.

We specifically booked a property with a fenced garden at an additional cost because we are travelling with two small dogs. The possibility of letting them safely spend time outside was one of the main reasons we chose Landgoed de Scheleberg. We actually found this place because it was recommended by hondenopvakantie.nl and booked it specifically with the expectation of staying somewhere that is genuinely dog-friendly.

That is why what happened on the second day came as such a surprise. We received a phone call informing us that our dogs were barking and asking whether we could keep them inside because neighbours had complained. I was genuinely shocked and found the situation very unpleasant.

Of course, I fully understand that constant barking for hours would be unacceptable and that dog owners should intervene in such a situation. But that was not what was happening here. Our dogs were simply behaving like dogs in a fenced garden, especially when another dog walked past the fence and was also barking. It is unrealistic to expect dogs staying at a dog-friendly holiday park to remain completely silent.

What I also find difficult to understand is why guests are charged extra both for bringing dogs and for booking a specially fenced garden if they are then asked to keep their dogs indoors. The whole reason we paid more for this option was to allow our dogs to safely enjoy the outdoor space.

In that situation, it starts to feel as though you are paying extra for a “premium” service that you are not actually free to use in the way it is intended.

On the first day, seeing our dogs happily running around the fenced garden, we genuinely thought we had found the perfect place to spend a holiday together with them. Unfortunately, after the phone call on the second day, that feeling completely disappeared. Instead of relaxing, we started wondering whether every time one of our dogs barked, someone would complain again.

This is especially disappointing because the park itself has a lot of potential, the surroundings are beautiful, and our first experience with the reception staff was excellent.

However, the combination of the cleanliness issues, visible mould in the accommodation and the attitude towards dogs means that, based on this experience, we do not plan to return.

A real shame, because after the first few hours we honestly thought we had found a place we would happily come back to.

Not only our dogs were barking. When we went outside into the garden in the evening, we could clearly hear other dogs barking persistently in the distance — some were even howling. Our dogs only barked occasionally when they heard or noticed another dog on the other side of the fence.
